What can get me a sense of direction? Let's (blindly) Play Planescape: Torment!
Posted by Broken Forum [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 29 November 2013, 3:51 pm
Been a while since I've done this seriously. Let's see how I usually do it... right, a case:

This beautiful, rasta-adorned mug marks the front cover for Planescape: Torment, an RPG developed by Black Isle Studios and released December 12th, which makes the game just about... hold on... 11 years younger than me. I've no idea if my playing it would have been a good idea...

Let's watch Flonne go insane, Let's play Pokémon Quartz!
Posted by Broken Forum [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 29 November 2013, 3:51 pm

Let's talk about what we're going to play.
We are going to play a hack of Pokémon Ruby called Pokémon Quartz.
It's kind of famous so you might know what ride we are in for, if not..you will soon.
This hack contains fakemon only, meaning you won't get to see your old favorites.
This will be a Nuzlocke run! As you might have read in McKnight's thread this...

The Running Thread
Posted by Broken Forum [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 29 November 2013, 3:59 pm
So, I guess we need one of these. Or maybe it will just be me and Creole Ned muttering "Good job, man" to each other again. Anyway, here's the thread to talk about running. Specifically running when not necessarily being chased.

After two satisfactory half marathons in 2011, I intend to run a full one in 2012. Probably in October, but possibly in May if things go extremely well. But I'm committed to finishing one in a reasonable time!

I searched the web for some training schedule/guides...

The Running Thread

I work in a place packed with people who say the most unfortunate things. In another place and at another time there was a thread to share these things, but that place and time is gone. So here is a new thread. I encourage people to share their own harrowing tales of overhearing things you wish you hadn't, whether it's at work, on the subway, in restaurants. I don't care.

Today's all come from the same source. A coworker I will only call B.

B, while discussing his four year old niece. "I...

Random thoughts and questions
Posted by Broken Forum [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 29 November 2013, 3:59 pm
Sometimes I have random thoughts ("I look funny in this hat") and sometimes I have random questions ("Why do I look funny in this hat?") and I figured others probably have random thoughts and questions, too.

Please share them here.

The general fashion/style/please dress me thread
Posted by Broken Forum [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 29 November 2013, 3:59 pm
Because it has come up before, specifically about shoes, and then about one particular poster, so I figure a thread just for the topic of "I want to dress better, please halp" would be good.

Threaaaaads in spaaaace (Space Thread 2012)

Broken Forum doesn't currently have a space thread. This might mean Broken Forum doesn't actually need a space thread, but who cares, I'm starting one anyway! Before we're done we'll have more spaceships than a Brian Rubin thread!

This thread will be chock full of updates with current and upcoming launches, mission milestones for active spacecraft, and pedantry over rocket naughty bits.

The Toronto Mayor thread

Because seriously, fuck this guy.

Summary: He voted on a motion which would stop him from having to pay back money he acquired by leveraging his position as mayor (or perhaps only councilman at the time, I'm fuzzy on the timeline) to solicit donations for a private foundation. This violates conflict of interest laws.

His defense?

Lum broke everything

Nah, he didn't. Not yet. I couldn't find a thread for general complaints, so I made one.

The forum appears to be tracking unread posts only about a month into the past. After that, everything is marked as read. The cutoff date keeps moving forward with time. All those unread posts I was going to get around to eventually are now lost in time, like tears in rain. I'm pretty sure it used to track all the way back to the board's creation, or at least further than a month. Was this a deliberate...

Spend more time with your friends, okay?
Posted by Broken Forum [HTML][XML][PERM][FULL] on 29 November 2013, 4:09 pm
Because it's easy to grow apart... to not see someone for years, for whatever reasons. Then one day they post on your Facebook, and you think to yourself, "Man, I should really find some reason to visit and say hi." And the day after that, they die, and the next time you see them will be at a funeral.

The older I get, the more I realize that I don't spend enough time with friends. So spend more time with your friends, okay?

A general Fox News Is Horrible thread

I know, I know. Fox News is terrible and everyone should know this by now. But sometimes, sometimes, they really stand tall, stand proud and bellow to the world 'WE ARE FOX! WE ARE FOX AND WE ARE THE WORST!'

This thread is for that.

Reza Aslan had a fantastic interview with John Oliver on the Daily Show last week. His book, Zealot, sounds fascinating. A look at the historical Jesus and the world in which he would have lived. But please, Fox, don't let that stop you from conducting...

This week, our security team found an unauthorized and illegal access into our internal network here at Blizzard. We quickly took steps to close off this access and began working with [...]

In case you’re wondering why Mark Pincus of Zynga is compared to Steve Jobs so much (maybe you hear voices in your head, I won’t judge) Slate publishes a four part ‘interview’ with Pincus where Jacob Weisberg answers that burning question, while also remarking on just how awesome Pincus is, and how he can’t understand [...]

The Secret World kind of snuck out to the market in between all the loud explosions of SWTOR and 38 Studios collapsing and Guild Wars 2 ramping up to cover the world in fire or something.
