Amazing podcast again. I really enjoy listening to you. Oodles of knowledge in every podding-cast. On the subject of joystick fighting games. Jump to Lightspeed/ Star Wars Galaxies, has an incredably innovative/lag-free space fighting system. I played Galaxies for years untill recently switching to the amazing persistent world of EVE.
(P.S funny as i was writing this message you mentioned SWG's suck *** desition to implement the CU/NGE)

Great - enjoyed it - please loose the music it was driving me mad main reason was I spent the time trying to hear it. Seriously though good stuff.

I can't completly get rid of the background music sadly, but I will make sure its even lower for next weeks show.

At the risk of this being a dialog - why cant you switch the background music off? do you record the podcast in a lift? :) By the way loved the last song, that was really funny and appropriate.

The background music is fine to have...most podcaster use it. If you want to bring it down, I recommend making it no higher than 2% of the total volume of the music....maybe -34dB down from your voice signal (guess work there)

In all the podcasts I listen to on a regular basis there is no background music during conversation- just at chapter/topic breaks. But according to Urban the background music cannot be eliminated because of some audio problems becoming apparent if the music isn't there. I can live with that if, like the above poster suggests, the music can be put to as minimum of a level as possible. Credits for the music should be posted or mentioned as well. Legalities, y'know. ;-)

Other than that I'm digging WDA very much.

Welll I know the game as a whole had around a 1:1 male to female ratio throughout the game's popular times. Occasionally the females outnumbered the males. I played on Saturn server, and there was plenty of actual real-life women playing there. :)

Getting back into EO a bit lately so I thought I'd put this on my play list. A good show. It was very "listenable," which is more than half the battle.

Two comments:

1) get up on iTunes. I'm lazy. I like podcasts that find their way onto my iPod automatically.

2) throw us noobs a bone. There was a suggestion early on in the show that being a tackler (?) was a good route for a new player, easy to skill for and only requires a modest ship. That sounded great, but you did not mention anything that I could translate into an actual skill to be trained. I don't want to make the show a bore for experienced players, but if you could pause and fill in details on new player tips or add them into the show notes, that would be a big help.

Advice for the new and unabused is pretty scant when it comes to EO.

1) It's coming, it's in the approval process right now. Alternately, use the RSS feed from here in iTunes manually (Advanced menu in iTunes, Subscribe item)

FYI, when podcasts start the new hosts are usually pretty damn eager and excited to get that first show out into the world, which I can identify with. HOWEVER, Apple is not all that eager to list those new podcasts. It sometimes requires submitting feeds multiple times and being very patient. As Winterblink said, the notice has come in from Apple. They have acknowledged the show which usually means it shows up within 24 hours. i expect it to be in there at any time now. It wasn't in there this morning, but it might be by now. If I had to guess the easiest way to search for it in iTunes (which returns a big mess on searches for 'Eve") will likely me to search for virginworlds or winterblink as these two terms are rare enough that they will likely work pretty well.

Thanks for putting us up on itunes - Glad that is now sorted.

Newbie guide is a good plan, We will have to break it down into the various professions of couse (EVE is a pretty damn complicated game after all!). It may or may not be in the next show but we will do one soon(TM)

Listened to episode 1 in the car yesterday. Again, very good quality, both in content and general rapport. Sound/music levels all seemed good to me,which is saying something because I listen in a cheap Toyota at 100+ km/h.

As much as Darren's idea of a complete noob guide appeals to me, it doesn't sound like something that could be done justice in a single show. Maybe a few minutes on a noob topic of the week with supplements in the show notes?

Glad you appeared on iTunes minutes after I asked. I have that power some times.

Actually there's a member of Eve-University working on doing a regular podcast called Eve 101. There's a wealth of info over in the Eve-U corp that should make for good podcast material to help new players too.

I wouldn't want to clutter up your podcast with too basic stuff or it may alienate the more experienced folks.
