Well - let me be the annoying voice of "nononono!".
Here's a very good executive summary to what's up with goons:

Here's also a link to the sov map:

And no, Triple-A doesn't own Querious/Delve, IT-Alliance does (IT is ex-Bob, ex-Kenzoku). IT also kicked Pandemic Legion out of Fountain a while ago.
And the "other war" thingy someone mentioned -
That's the longest conflict in game between Ushra'Khan and Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA).

'Doubt WoW will be surpassed' by Teviko Submitted on 2010-02-16 14:51:02 CST Thank you for taking the time to discuss DLC. I now have a better understanding of your positions on the topic.
As far as the next WoW, I believe WoW is it and will never be surpassed by any game that is recognized as an MMO as it defined today. The reason for this, I believe, is that while Warcraft is certainly not the first MMO of it's kind, it is the first that reached out to the masses and became well-know through advertising, other media and word of mouth. It got a big head start on the genre and doesn't look like it going to stop until the MMO movement, as a whole, begins to die down.
I would point to a parallel in pen and paper role playing games. While Dungeons and Dragons may not have been the first, it was the first to gain great public attention in the media and eventually the IP spread to other forms of media. To this day, I don't believe any other pen and paper has surpassed D&D's popularity, as can be witnessed by the size of the D&D displays in game stores as compared to other games and the greater number of people advertising D&D groups and game nights over other games of it's kind.
That being said, you don't have to beat the leader to be successful. So, devs and investors, please keep desiging new games.
'Some Topics Never Get Old' by Anjin Submitted on 2010-02-17 02:09:37 CST The price of our games, from DLC to sub fees to cash shops, will always be an important part of the conversation. Money shapes the way games are designed. Oh, I feel a blog post coming on.
My theory about WoW has to do with how you view the MMO genre. If MMOs are just a tiny niche going nowhere, WoW may well be the last big game. The D&D comparison is apt here. If MMOs can continue to grow and evolve, WoW has to end someday. MMOs might end up like television series: some burn out and get cancelled fast, some become fabulously popular and it runs for years, and some get critical acclaim and a dedicated following. But no series lasts forever.
Also, I went absolutely crazy at work and made a list of all of your Blogs of the Week: amazingly a lot of those blogs still exist and you've only duplicated blogs twice. :)
'Excellent List!' by Wilhelm2451 Submitted on 2010-02-17 05:42:37 CST That is a most excellent list Anjin! Your OCD efforts are to commended!
Now can you go through my "New Linking Blogs" entry on my month in review posts and make a similar list? :-)

'Mass Effect vs Dragon Age' by Andrew Submitted on 2010-02-17 17:20:15 CST In the last show you briefly discussed why you thought that it was better design to have a vocal main character than a silent one. The context was Dragon Age versus Mass Effect.
I couldn't help but yell "bullshit" at my iPod as both Darren and Brian agreed that the Mass Effect model - i.e. a fully voiced protagonist - was the superior choice.
I hate listening to Sheppard act out my selections in Mass Effect because he often speaks in a manner that is completely the opposite of how I hoped he'd behave. In Dragon Age, by comparison, the silence of your character allows the experience to be way more immersive from a roleplaying point of view, since you are forced to "voice" the text you select in your own head.
Perhaps it's just how I play these games, but fully voice is not the best option in my opinion.
'Woot!' by KirithKodachi Submitted on 2010-02-18 13:55:47 CST I was going to comment about the Goons being replaced by Bob-New (aka IT Alliance) but I see SgtBaker did an impression of me first. ;)
Also, you ever want to try PvP in Eve, look me up and I'll get you into the corp I've been in for the past year and a half. Great guys, lots of action. Missions will never feel the same.
But Darren... don't expect another Cake. ;)
