'Warhammer' by Token Submitted on 2008-01-10 10:02:58 CST Another entertaining show thanks to all. The prediction that Warhammer will be another Lotro is complete guff. Go into any mmo and speak to people, you will hear excitement about Warhammer. Before Lotro was released I knew a few people who were going to try it on the side, but mostly they kept quiet about it and never left WoW. Warhammer on the other hand is so huge I'm already being invited to join guilds for it and it doesn't even have a release date. It will get a million subs no problem.
'WAR as "LotRO"' by Nosferum Submitted on 2008-01-10 10:34:47 CST ---There's certainly excitement for the game. However, so many decisions are made in the weeks before and after release that completely change a game's fate. Moreover, it's not rare for a game to begin very popular, then wane after a month.
'Addendum on housing.' by Nosferum Submitted on 2008-01-10 11:01:58 CST ---I actually don't like instanced housing. To me, the point of a house in a game is several-fold: an additional base of operations, a place to host events, and a way of showing off to others. Instanced housing automatically removes one of those, and often removes two. I didn't see the point of the housing in Anarchy Online. I went there when I first made my character, then never returned. I also didn't care much about my house in EQ2 because once I decorated it a bit, I just didn't care. In UO, it fit all three of my desires for a house. I've always assumed that's why housing was not instanced in VG.
'Warhammer' by Token Submitted on 2008-01-11 08:40:13 CST ---Well iI agree with you there Nos the devs have had me a bit worried recently. When they announced the introduction of RvR stuff from Daoc I was of course pleased, but also dismayed because I had assumed this was already in the game from the initial planning phase. I had always assumed I was getting Daoc2 WoW2.
'Engaging and funny show!!' by Extremefajita Submitted on 2008-01-12 10:27:37 CST Congrats on the best MMORPG podcast I've heard yet. Looking back, forward and at the present in one show while staying relevant and laugh-out-loud funny. You guys would love the MMORPG "Grandpa gripes" segment that opens Episode 1 of The Online Gamers Anthology right above this podcast. Part of your show reminded me of that and I was wondering if you had heard it.
'Enjoyed the show and a small FYI' by Kirath Submitted on 2008-01-15 13:21:44 CST HIya,
Enjoyed the show as always. I just wanted to comment about the SOE moving a guild to live servers. Someone on the show mentioned that if WoW was to do this that there would be quite an uproar. I played on hyjal some time ago. The rule was that no pvp server people (hyjal) could not transfer to a pvp server. I believe this is still the case. Now when Black Dragon Flight server was created. A certain Horde guild and everone on hyjal was given the chance to move. Fair because everyone on the server was offered the move, but unfair because other servers did not have that choice. It was often left unsaid but the ex guild leader of that horde guild was/is a blizzard developer. http://www.fohguild.org/forums/mmorpg-general-discussion/32242-eq2-guild-transfers-test-live-server.html?highlight=hyjal
is a link to the current discussion and it was brought up during that as well. Just wanted to point out, favoritism is out there in every game.
'Could you guys give your opinions on some games? ' by Edward78 Submitted on 2008-01-18 21:47:59 CST AoC, the videos look great, but I heard some say it sucks.
EvE, seems to be the only modern game out with meaningful PvP, but well lacking fun factor.
Warhammer, some say it will be a WoW clone, some say it will have meaningful PvP.
Mythos, not sure of anything, well I do know it will be free to download & play.
Shadowbane, meaningful PvP & seiging, but old & barely any players left.
Darkfall, the game that never enters beta, promises to be the next great thing.
So if you guys would be nice enough to tell us what you think on the next podcast, that would be great.
