Line up:

Karen, Jute and Sarcoth from Sacred Haven

Topics:

-  How it all began:  We look at how Sarcoth got started in Meridian 59, and grew into the role of a guild leader.  He reflects on his experience as a guild leader for over a decade, and talks about Sacred Haven's history through four MMOs.

-  His guild:  We look at what factors played a role in Sacred Haven's accomplishments in game, and their ability to sustain that level of success for such a long period of time.  Sarcoth talks about what's crucial to leading a family style raiding guild.   We also hear about the difficulties in managing various playstyles and personalities within the guild.

-  His games:  We trade his guild leader cap for a developer cap, and get his insight into what content, features, and game mechanics he likes and dislikes.  We look back at some of his memorable moments from Meridian 59, Everquest, Everquest II, and Vanguard.  And we get his views on what he'd like to see in an MMO that would help him do his job as both a guild leader and raid leader.

-  Speed round!  Sarcoth puts it all on the line, and tackles some quick fire questions about the games he's played.

Excellent idea for a show! I love it. I lead a guild in WoW so it is so nice to hear from other guild leaders about their experiences and how they deal with things. And Sarcoth was a great first guest. I can't believe you've been at it for so long. Amazing.

Lightning round? What a silly idea. That could never work! :)

jk

Excellent first show. I am very interested in eventually leading a guild so I will definitely be checking back often for new shows. Keep up the good work. I'm jealous at how well you guys nailed your first episode.

Hope the guy in your logo doesn't lose his grip. I don't even think he is wearing shoes.... or pants

I really enjoyed this cast. Very well done. Questions were smart. Sarcoth was very interesting. I wish I could find a Guild Leader that seems like such a good guy. Hope all turns out well with your adoption.

If you are a guildie or guild leader you can relate to this cast. Superb!

When I left WoW (one of the times) I tried to get someone to take over as Guild Leader and nobody wanted it - Sarcoth is so right! It's actually hard to find people that want that job. Most people say now "I will never do it again". I came back to WoW to find my guild taken over by immature and annoying people. Really made me sad to see what we had built - destroyed. I ended up leaving the guild in Wrath and am floating.

A guild is an incredible thing. I found so many friends over the years from my guild. I love the idea of this cast. Jute and Karen - you are so talented! Thanks for bringing such a informative and entertaining cast to light.

Keep on keepin' on

Can't wait to get a chance to give this a listen. I am an ex-raiding guild leader in EQ. Will be interested to see how other Guild Leaders view their job.

Any chance this will be on ITunes soon? Much easier to keep up with on ITunes.

Well what do you want people? I can't help liking every show on VW, it's not my fault they are all so awesome :)

Congrats on the new show, a very good idea and a rarely discuss area of gaming life for many people.

I am/was a clan co-leader in a few games and there are so many things that are transparent to members that only the select few know the day to day hurdles that you are required to overcome. I suppose I was quite lucky and had the support of 2 other people to help mange things.

I agree with Sarcoth's comments regarding picking out those members that can aid you in officer roles. Half of the battle is finding them and the second half is convincing them to take the reins in micro-managing certain areas of the clan.

Again a wonderful addition to the collective and i look forward to more podcast from you in the future.

Great idea for a podcast. I really enjoyed the listen, and it was refreshing to hear about a Vanguard guild leader, and not something predictable like a WoW guild leader.

Sarcoth struck me as a grumpy elitist older gamer (the QQing about the crafting and level streamlining in VG and how it 'lessens the achievement' of those who had leveled prior to the patches. False.) but I loved his insight to VG end-game and mainly respected his prowess in oldschool MMOs.

Great first show Karen and Jute. Allso great first guest, Sarcoth was a likable person and came off very well.

This was a well put together show and I will come back for more. Any idea what your show schedule will be? weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, or yearly? I'm hoping sooner than laterbecause I just started my own guild and would love to hear from people that made it and the ones that din't make it. Just to hear what went right, and what went wrong.

any way, big GRATS you two

Really enjoyed this, I have never been leadership material on any front in my life, but I've entertained ideas of starting a small social guild, this is going to be a great listen no matter if that works out or not.

James said: "Sarcoth struck me as a grumpy elitist older gamer (the QQing about the crafting and level streamlining in VG and how it 'lessens the achievement' of those who had leveled prior to the patches. That's funny because I got the exact opposite of that, he sounded like a pretty calm open guy who's passionate about his game. He's not allowed to have opinions about drastic changes to the game? Any time devs change something significant people will either be pleasantly surprised or disappointed, and usually it's the latter. However Sarcoth explained his view very well I have to respect that even though I may or may not agree.

As a fairly new guild leader (under a year) I am always looking for insite on guild leadership. Great job, I hope to hear a lot more perspectives in the future.

This was a great show to listen to, good job Karen and Jute you guys are great. The guest was fantastic, I loved hearing about his life and stuff like that. Hey it might seem a bit silly to some, listening to everyday people talk about their lives and video games. But to me, omg that is fantastic radio!

I'm going to be starting up a guild in the upcoming MMO Darkfall. I kind of made this guild in Lineage 2 and it worked out pretty well, so I'm excited to see what I can do in DF. I will be tuning in more in the future. :)

I know making a podcast is hard work but please please continue! ^_^

Cool stuff but Lagwar has been doing this for a while now. Nice to see players get recognized though.
