The Warpath Episode 5: We've found a Witching Night. May we Burn it?
Thu, 30 Oct 2008 19:52:00 GMT [download/play]

Phillip and Stephen return for Episode 5 after a shorter interval than usual. Bonus Warpath, this week!

First off, the guys discuss some news, including Warhammer's first Live Event, Witching Night, as well as the freshly released Patch 1.04.

After that, it's time to get knee-deep with the Old Gods as The Warpath gives an introduction to Chaos. Grab your eight-pointed stars and summon your demons!

Listener mail is a bit shorter for this episode, since Episode 4 had only been up for about 36 hours at the time of recording. In the future, the recording schedule should be more consistent, allowing for more consistent editing turnaround. Thanks to our listeners for bearing with us as we get this thing rolling.

As always, if you wish to contact the hosts, you may do so at warpathpodcast|at|gmail|dot|com. Also you can always drop by The Official Warpath Forums and say hello to other listeners there, as well as find out how to get involved in the official Warpath guild, The Dogs of War, on the Phoenix Throne server.

'Zealots and telling it like it is' by Julie

Well gents I hope you continue to tell it like it is whether or not someone likes it, but if not I understand. Another great show and I do indeed like your lore sections no matter who else does or doesn't.

As for Zealots I even have a zealot on the badlands server named "Keef" that once she hits level 20 I am going to give the last name "Richards" to her. If you want to see what I mean about Zealots looking like Keith Richards the way they walk just go see the recent Rolling Stones concert move "Shine a light" and watch the famous stones guitarist play. My one regret with Warhammer is that there is no way to give my zealot a guitar instead of that skull.

Great show guys and keep up the good work.

Hey guys, nice show! I just got listening. I thought I would throw out a few comments.

You talk about lore and went into Zealots. Why didn't you guys mention that Zealots where added by Mythic after discussions with Games Workshop. So it's something added to fill in a 'hole' in the lore that was made by the 4 class template Mythic made up for the game of tank, melee dps, range dps, healer. This is also true of the Disciple, a melee healer for a race devoted to a murder god. That started flame wars like you wouldn't believe. I don't mind that Mythic added the classes, but they aren't things that show up in traditional Warhammer. It's worth mentioning, at least.

Also, you mention not seeing a lot of Slaanesh in the game. Turns out, she's got an area devoted to her in the Inevitable City! Goes to show that the only things people end up visiting in the main cities is the Auction House, the Mailbox and the Vaults! If you go far to the southern part of the city, it splits into two sections, The east side is home to Slaanesh, while the right side is devoted to Khorne. So go check it out! It's quite amusing, seeing the various demons for both hanging around, doing their own thing, while housed in the great city.

Lastly, I'll be interested in hearing your guys take on Witching Night. I play on Phoenix Throne, like you guys do, and the T3 raids for the PQ are just a big mess. Players farm each other Border camp and the main mobs dies in 2 seconds. With something like a 20 minutes - 3 hour respawn before each PQ, I really feel like it's not that fun, and I don't know if I'll be able to finish this event on multiple characters, like I hoped. Are you guys having much luck?

You know, the whole zealot/DoK thing totally slipped my mind, I've been in the game so long, now. You're right, though. I remember giving a concerned expression when I first read about those classes.

As for the quarters of the IC, I haven't spent much time there since the city was rank/tier/whatever 2 or 3, so it's entirely possible I'm missing out on neat content, now. I think I could spend a couple of hours there and not see all the stuff. Thanks for the tip, though.

As for Witching Night, we'll probably be doing a post mortem of it in the next show. We've had some similar difficulties on our end with the whole PQ issue. Last night I noticed they manually reset at least some of them, so hopefully that's a sign that the reset timer is being messed with? As for influence, the grind is an ass-whipping to say the least. I a good while grinding a cauldron in T3, and am not even to the second reward, yet. The common consensus from what I've read is that Mythic wanted a way to test RvR influence schemes, and used the holiday event as a means to that ends. That might explain what feels like a bit of sloppy execution on what would otherwise be a really neat idea.

Just wanted to pipe in and say that I've been listening since Episode 1 and love the show guys, and as a member of the N.P.N.M. guild on Phoenix Throne, I look forward to seeing you on the Battle Field. =)

p.s. If one of you is "Bleeda" I had fun beating you down in Mourkain Temple on my Ironbreaker, Maclash. ; )

What??? Zealots were added by Mythic? No no no.. I have the Zealot Career in my Warhammer RPG book. They might not be huge in the Warhammer world... but yes they are there.
