The Warpath Episode 4: Playing Catch-Up
Sun, 26 Oct 2008 20:28:00 GMT [download/play]

It's been a little while since the last show, so the guys spend some time catching up on the news in preparation for putting the show on a regular weekly schedule.

First off, Patch 1.03 makes some changes to increase the experience and renown gain of open RVR, as well as adding Regional chat. Let the Chuck Norris jokes commence!

Also, Mark Jacobs' State of the Game broke the exciting news that the Black Guard and the Knight of the Blazing Sun will be returning in December.

This week, Phillip and Stephen discuss the dwarves on the tabletop, and how that plays into their role in the game. Let the stunties roll!

A piece of listener mail gets answered, and the guys put out a request for MP3 submissions and more mail and suggestions. If you get a chance, make sure you check out Lagwar, another great MMO podcast.

To wrap things up, Phillip and Stephen take a shot at Blizzard for their petulance regarding Warhammer and its developers.

Also, next week's show will have a contest with fabulous prizes, all furnished by the wonderful Brent!

Phillip keeps doing that annoying um-heh-um thing. I hate that, it's the sound of smug! You know what I'm talking about, when some one makes a joke and kind of half laughs at their own joke..even though no one else is laughing.

Urggg

OK so it's a personal pet peeve but I had to get it out of the way.

Otherwise I'm enjoying this cast as I've just recently picked up Warhammer. I'm playing a Black Orc and so far I really like it. Thanks for the lore section. I never got into the Warhammer table top (I did play necro-something-or-other 40k for a bit tho).

Anyway thanks for annoying me, um-heh-um.

You guys are doing a good job with the show. Production quality is good. I like that you've divided it into focused sections. I don't have a lot of time to keep up with the game news and a podcast that hits the important stuff is very valuable for me. I'm a complete newb at this game and have already learned several things from your cast that will help me in-game. I think your interest in including listener segments and audio is a good idea. Hope to hear more and plan to follow you guys for some time to come.

The WoW vs. War rant was off-base and immature IMO. Stick to celebrating the game you love and you'll go far.

BTW, I'm 37 and will tell you you're not old. The average age of the MMO player is 26 ( http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus/gateway_demographics.html ) so you guys are in the younger 50th percentile.

I for one have enjoyed listening to your explanation of the races and lore. Its good stuff.

But I have to agree that the whole WoW rant was just disruptive, frustrating to listen to and off track with what you are trying to do with your show. I listen to hear about WAR.

So please, for me, no more cheap shots at WoW? Pretty please. haha =)

Another great show gents. Even if neither of the hosts of the show point it out I will: The section about WoW was preceded with profuse apologies, and miriad qualifiers the most important being "this is my opinion and I am entitled to it." I can I would be interested in seeing the source of the latest update. From what was said about the changes I can understand what must be the reasoning behind it, not all of which would have to do with Warhammer or Mark Jacobs.

Everyone is entitled to their own say so: "stick to your guns gents" is what my dear departed grandmother would have said. (ok the "gents" is my addition to it)

Thanks for the mention of the number two warhammer show (Fran and mine) and while our tiny guild isn't yet large enough to meet yours on the RvR battlefield, feel free to cross the field and have at with a Witch Hunter named "Vanhelseng" or a Shadow Warrior named "Sister".

P.S. No it's not a sin.

I liked how you explained a few things in WAR using Lord of the rings as a reference,

It is reallt helpful since I know about LotR and I'm sure lots of people do so that was pretty helpful thanks. It was pretty interesting hearing about the Dwarves and lore too, great show as usual.

HI guys,
I'm in the no prisoners no mercy guild on PT named Ceadrick come find me and try to kill this mad dwarf!

Anyways good show keep it up.

Third and final thing just wanted to comment about the WOW rant. I disagree with your feelings and heres way. I started WOW a month after launch played off and on till WAR came out. I was in a guild that was running molten core and doing the first boss in BWL. WE had just got into BWL when BC came out. That was it no more raiding MC or BWL we just did new content then o fcourse the guild fell apart blah blah blah.. If Blizzard would have nerfed old content the way they just did I would have got to see a bunch of stuff I paid for. I applaud the nerf. I was watching my son run SSC and they finished it He was so happy. Hes really looking forward to the next expansion. My brother got to finish Black Temple because of the nerf. Ya so it doesnt mean as much and the skill level isnt needed but they got to see that content. Content that will probably never be run again.
Just my two cents. Have fun.
