The Warpath Episode 3: Your Sweet Sweet XP
Thu, 9 Oct 2008 20:07:00 GMT
After a slight delay, the Warpath is back for Episode 3!
This week, Stephen and Phillip tackle the Greenskins, from their tabletop lore to their place within WAR and a brief breakdown of the career paths, it's all about da green.
The guys read some listener mail this week, and threaten horrible, WoW-related content if the mailflow dries up. If you have something to say to us, you can send it to warpathpodcast|at|gmail.com. We're looking for e-mail questions and comments, as well as pre-recorded mp3s. If you want your voice heard, then send it on!
In community discussion, The Warpath takes a look at
, a sharp-looking site with a nice blog, and some video mini-casts.
Finally, your hosts officially debut the official forums and guild for the show. The guild is called The Dogs of War, and plays on the Phoenix Throne server. You can search for the guild by name and talk to any member about joining, or you can visit our
and move down to the Recruitment section. Be advised that Phoenix Throne is an RP server, and while we don't enforce roleplay, there are rules for naming of characters for the server itself.

I was just listening to your show (there are alot in the collective now and I do try and keep up with them). I have a question. At the top of the show you mentioned that you considered yourselves the best virgin worlds.warhammer online podcast because you were the only one.
This gives me pause for thought.
Since Fran and I also have a Warhammer Online Podcast on the collective(tag line: Two nuns go to waaagggh) this leaves several possibilities. The first is the slim possibility that yours is not the only one (and the more the merrier I say). The second is that perhaps as there are two podcasts on the same subject perhaps one is not the best and the other the second best...after all...art (and podcasting is an art, as is writing) is such a nebulous thing that quality is hard to judge.
It all puts me in mind of a peanuts cartoon that I saw so long ago. Linus is on a beach making a sand castle. Eventually a wave comes along and washes it away; upon which LInus says "There is a lesson to be learned here somewhere but I don't quite know where it is."

...to apologize for the horrendous oversight...and also to throw Brent directly under the bus for giving us the moniker of the first WAR VW cast =P

Don't thrown brent under the bus...you were the first. We didn't change the direction of the podcast until after I got a co-host and Warhammer Preview Weekend. Your just not the only is all. Besides, if you throw Brent under the wheels of a bus who will do all the work maintaining this side...good gracious I certainly don't want all that work. I LIKE having my podcast cake and eat it to. (and yes the cake is real...I had a piece).

Is this podcast going to be about the tabletop and the history of the characters of Warhammer or the MMO game.
Who is related to who, who hates who etc..and the fact that some characters have a bad disposition, I really have no need to know.
Sure a little lore here and there is o.k., and if thats going to be your focus, I need to know to remove it from my MMO PODCAST list.
Your on an site that focuses on MMO games and podcasts about them.
Listens to the MOG guys if you need guidence. I listen to a lot of podcasts, 50+ a week, so I can handle different styles, but when your talking about Orc Reproduction, well... its time to find a different profession and I will find a different podcast to listen to.

Hey Julie, I'm sure the guys didn't mean to say their show is better than yours.. I'm sure it was a joke and they did think their podcast were the only WAR podcast here.. yours didn't even start as a WAR podcast. I even remember that you agreed with Brent that WAR was more of the same referring to WoW. I couldn't imagine either that you had converted yours to a WAR podcast.
Now I'm listening to both (now that I know) :)

Hey Mezzum, it's ok for you to not like to hear about lore related to the warhammer IP.
But what I think is YES there is space to speak about this here. The IP lore is in Warhammer online(check the tome of Knowledge) and yes it does increase the fun some people have in game (like me).
What I'm trying to say is... You don't like? Ok.. and you are not wrong to ask if this is or not the focus to be able to decide whether to keep listening or not.
Just don't say they should or should not speak of it here because "Your on an site that focuses on MMO games and podcasts about them". That's no reason to stop speaking about lore!

How dare you come on my show, and then go and horribly distort the Squig Herder Squig progression!!! *insert random ranting here*
Squig Order, for you uneducated masses:
Btw, thanks to you two for coming on Witty Ranter. Keep up the good work :)

I hope this podcast doesn't become a "once a month" show, or in the case of some other podcasts (WDA *cough*), every couple of months.
It's been almost 2 weeks now. Any chance we can get another episode?
Oh, and @Mezzem: I found this podcast to be very informative. There are a dozen podcasts that talk about patch notes. But knowing "why" there are only male orcs... interesting to me.

It'll be a weekly show, once we get settled in. Stephen and I both had what should be our busiest time IRL until Christmas, but Episode 4 has been recorded, so should be up in a day or two.
