Limited Edition #19
Thu, 16 Jul 2009 02:22:00 GMT [download/play]

Welcome back to Limited Edition, Episode 19 and the first purely Games-related 'cast.

In this episode Matt takes up the reins of Host and Editor, manages not to explode with excitement and makes rather too much work for himself later.

Joined by the ever-amazing John as Co-Host they explain the change of format and the split into two alternating types of podcast.

We talk about some of the games we're playing at the moment, as per usual Matt is playing much more than should be humanly possible but surprisingly most of it offline.

Matt talks up some PC Gaming related news including a brief look at LotrO Book 8, some first impressions of WAR's Land of the Dead content and the sinking of The Pirate Bay.

Console news includes poking holes at Lionhead's latest "prize", the insanity of an ultimate fan and the possibility of using NATAL for action-heavy games.

Finally, John talks alittle about his exploration into gaming on a Mac, without even using BootCamp! *gasp*

Comments, Questions and Criticism (for it's Matt's very first time editing, and he promises todo better next time, Honest guv'!) can be directed at @Teppotastic and @shuttler on twitter. Or over at

Episode 19 Discussion Thread

'Sound issues...' by Beauturkey
Submitted on 2009-07-16 14:20:29 CST
...not to be THAT guy, but here's a tip on the sound:

1) Both talk over Skype, and record Skype normally.

2) Both record, at their homes, their end of the conversation on Audacity.

3) If the Skype recording works fine, use it.

4) If the Skype recording breaks up and stuff, use the saved .wav or .mp3 files from Audacity.

For example, Shuttie puts down the puppy and saves his end of the conversation as an MP3. He sends this MP3 to Matt through email, webspace or through file send thingy.

Matt takes his end of the conversation (in Audacity) and adds Shutties puppy track. He syncs them up and can adjust volume and effects easier. There ya go, two much better recordings that sound like you are both in the same room. Higher quality, more control.

Oh yeh, I like the new games show idea!

as if you could ever be wrong!

We used todo it that way - until Shuttie got lazy :P But seeing as now I have ZEE POWAH we may switch back for my ones :P

At the end of the day, most of the issues were due to my stupidity (forgot to move the mic up) and Hull's awful internet (I've now moved back to Wales). So we should be good either way :D

All Hail Lord Turkey! ;D

Dammit. I REALLY want one.

They are cheap, and do so much. But, I know I can run it on my PC monitor...would that be worth doing until I get a giant TV?

Look great on a monitor, but depends what you want it for. If you are doing that then are most of the games you want PC available anyway?

Thanks for the recording tips, that is exactly how we used to do TabulaCast I think the main problem at times with that is when mic levels get to high in the ear and you get the other persons headphones picked up on the mic.

We will get there, the internet in Hell was awful!

Welsh internet is much better!

Man I wouldnt get it for the PC type games, I would get it for the online stuff, the mini-games, all that stuff. I would get it for the "normal" games, too. But, there just seems to be so much going on in it that I shouldn't miss out.

A) Wouldnt I have to get a special plug? Or does it come with it?

b) IS there enough stuff besides PC available games to keep my interest?

See, Leala wants a Wii. I would love to have one, too, for the party games and stuff. And I think I could use my monitor for that too. SO, I dunno.

Just seems like I could blow more stuff up using the 360.

The arcade stuff is awesome and there is soooooooo very much of it.

You get the vga plug easy enough, like this one

I love all the arcade games and original stuff you get.

Our wii gets used far less than any other of the consoles

You mean arcade games like this right

That's exactly what I've been using since I got my 360 about 18months ago. Just needs the MS VGA cable for the back of the 360 and I needed a F-F adapter to join the 2 cables together :D Audio is just a standard right/left phono and comes with an adapter to 3.5mm jack.

Much better image than a standard TV. Only abit less than HDTV (and for alot less monies too).
