No Prisoners, No Mercy Host: Julie Whitefeather & Frances Kosac There comes a time, friends, when your favorite MMO ceases to sparkle, when even new videogames lose their luster, and the computer room becomes a prison; and all that is left are two gamers (who happen to be nuns) with a very large axe to grind. Come join Julie Whitefeather and Frances Kosac as they go to War - and along the way discuss the events of the week in the MMO industry.

No Prisoners, No Mercy - Show 48Mon, 16 Nov 2009 19:58:00 GMT [download/play]
Good morning everyone,
Show number 48 has been completed at last and uploaded - our apologies for the delay (matching sound levels was a bit difficult this time around).
Our guests this week our Mr. Colin Dwan, project manager for Fallen Earth over at Icarus Studios as well as our good friends JMO (who now admits he is actually Jeremy) from mmovoices and their podcast as well as Tipa from West Karana. Mr. Dwan catches us all up with how the release went for Fallen Earth and what it was like to release a major mmo from an indie developer. The JMO, Tipa, Fran and Julie run talk about the issues of the day, including a few "rants" from the West Karana website.
'Comments on Tipa's Perspective' by Pufnstuf Submitted on 2009-11-19 23:30:32 CST Great podcast. I do agree we do not need more wow like games as well as it is not the customer's fault. I love EvE and WIzards 101 and even Pirates of the Burning Sea which are all definitely not WOW. I would not call the games 'crap' though since I do think community is part of the reason people stay. I love the LOTRO community for instance much more than WOW even though it is a WOW clone probably.
Anyhoo keep up the great work and hope you are liking Champions Online. I made a 'Lizzie Borden' Superhero with Bun and Axe with her Nemesis Papa. Great Game!
'lol' by Token Submitted on 2009-11-21 05:12:33 CST Good show this week. Tipa's one of the few people that gets it. Sorry pufnstuf, keep trying.
'Yay!!' by CindyL Submitted on 2009-11-22 05:46:14 CST Thanks for plugging MMO Voices and yay for Jeremy!! I agree with him pretty much on everything about the success of an MMO, if anything freak successes like WoW make me wary. Not that WoW isn't a fantastic game, but to me there's too much of one type of candy and not enough of another. Big successes worry too much about marketing and less about crafting their world. Or so it seems.
Anyway, completely enjoyed your Icarus Studios interview, I am very torn right now between buying Fallen Earth or not. I've just bought Dragon Age and that was a biggie for me but darn, camp fires? Really? I love it! Maybe I should get my scavenger gear ready. :P
'Fallen Earth' by Jmo Submitted on 2009-11-22 08:56:07 CST I've finally given Fallen Earth a fair shake with one of the 14 day trials out there. I'm hooked. Talk about a complete jump into the old school style of MMOs, but with a whole new twist: First person shooter and skill based leveling... o_O
Icarus Studios hit the nail on the head!
'Good for you' by Julie Submitted on 2009-11-23 12:59:16 CST @ JMO I am glad you are finally in the game and managed to get hold of one of their rare 14 day trials. If you need a hand or supplies send a tell to Auntie Maim (isn't it nice that I don't have to tell you what server I play on).
And finally show 49 has been uploaded. It will be available as Brents scheddule allows for public release. Early release later today at a link on our website.
'slax' by Token Submitted on 2009-11-25 12:25:53 CST I couldn't find the early released show 49. There will be a riot soon.
'slax' by Token Submitted on 2009-11-28 10:53:14 CST Show 49 was excellent. See if you can finish show 50 before Brent uploads 49 :D
