No Prisoners, No Mercy Host: Julie Whitefeather & Frances Kosac There comes a time, friends, when your favorite MMO ceases to sparkle, when even new videogames lose their luster, and the computer room becomes a prison; and all that is left are two gamers (who happen to be nuns) with a very large axe to grind. Come join Julie Whitefeather and Frances Kosac as they go to War - and along the way discuss the events of the week in the MMO industry.

'Hmm... Classes mix up?' by tnx3 Submitted on 2008-11-11 01:18:14 CST I love the shows so far, but I'm dropping my jaw at the mistaken identities with the destruction classes.
So FYI:
Hand guy is the Marauder.
The big case of metal tank would be the Chosen.
Yes, the Zealot would be the feather cape thing that heals.
And small side note, at higher levels a good number of players are complaining about the survivability of healers in RvR.
'Yep' by Jmo Submitted on 2008-11-11 02:48:58 CST You are correct Tnx3. I realized the mistake after I incorrectly told them it was the Chosen, at that point it was later in the day and not much I could do about correcting myself.
Just got home and haven't had a chance to DL and listen to the show in its entirety yet. I think it will be weird hearing myself talk.
'Generic Post title' by Julie Submitted on 2008-11-11 08:32:25 CST As for me I am just delighted to have a Mother Superior who not only lets me game but is a gamer herself AND wants to do a podcast. I love sharing her delightful sense of humor with the world. A gaming mother superior is MORE rare than hens teeth.
That said...
She doesn't play horde in Wow, she almost never plays Destruction in War.
I play destruction but I never play chosen or maurader. Why? No female characters - not even charcters from a "shroomwomb" as one guidie put it.
Hence the source of the error. Yes I know, chosen is the big guy in the big armor that looks like the evil version of ironman in the movie of the same name controled by Jeff Bridges (who also starred in one of my favorite movies as "the dude")
And I know that the Marauder is the guy with the big lobster hand or whatever mutated but hey...maybe if there were female versions I'd take more interest and I'm just happy to have a mother suprerior who games.
However...
Thanks for taking the time to "keep us honest" as grandma used to say.
I should also add that last night when I woke up in the middle of the night Fran was on her way to bed. I passed her in the hallway and she said she had been winning battlegrounds with her swordmaster ... so it appears she will have to take back her "bad gaming karma" claims.

'Name Change' by hater Submitted on 2008-11-11 11:15:41 CST Just a quick heads up
If you have to get a name change you don't get to pick a new name - you get stuck with a randomly generated name.. (You can keep generating them but you have to pick one of the random names). So be forewarned!
Oh another great show you girls rock!
'Feedback page' by mikejl Submitted on 2008-11-11 12:08:43 CST FYI .. Warhammer feedback page;
I have used it to submit ideas. I use the in game tools to submit bugs.
And I am glad still no forums. Great show.
'Stop playing with yourself!' by Seritaph Submitted on 2008-11-11 14:55:52 CST Incorporating a way to play with friends who have to start at the beginning when you're an established player has always been an issue. One solution I have is kind of a derivative of monster pvp play featured in LoTRO. What if the established player could embody another entity that assists the new player, like in the form of a pet or minion. Or perhaps to keep consistent with the IP, a person could embody a separate character that is a Dog of War mercenary type. A temporary persona where you can choose from different classes, combat abilities and races that compliment the person you want to group with.
Continue to love the show, keep up the good work.
'Note on mentoring' by Flawnder Submitted on 2008-11-11 18:06:59 CST Loved the show, as usual. Just wanted to respond to one point about the difficulty playing with friends of lower level.
You mention EQ2 as an example where you can mentor down to play with friends. This is true and it works great.
HOWEVER, note that they had to disable this feature on their PvP servers, because it just doesn't work (actually it's not really disabled, but the mentoring person cannot pvp, which would make it pretty worthless in a game like Warhammer).
The reason they had to do this is that is created huge imbalances when folks tried to pvp. All I'm saying is that it's not so easy to do.

'Forgot to add..' by Seritaph Submitted on 2008-11-12 16:22:50 CST Nice to hear a new voice in the show. Grats to Jmo on being the second "human" podcast guest. At least I think Jmo is the second...
'Well actually...' by Julie Submitted on 2008-11-12 19:11:24 CST ...actually we have had a couple of shows with "pre-recorded guests" who submitted an mp3 - one on mistells and the last one from the author of "mystic worlds." However JMO is our first "live recorded" guest...yes. He was responsible as well for helping with the software to record the skype calls.
@ Hater: are you the dwarf named hater I see on the Phoenix throne server from time to time? And not being able to pick a new name really puts a crimp in things doesn't it? Thanks for the info.
@Flawnder: yes I have heard about mentoring not working on pvp servers. However the devs at mythic are already pushing stats up in battleground (although not far enough in the Tier 4 battleground) still that would leave the problem of the extra abilities that other players would not have...sort of the reverse of the problem that boosting the stats of players on Tier 4 battlegrounds. They may boost the stats to level 36 but that isn't enough. As a level 31 shaman I hand handle npc's up to level 36 boosting my stats up to level 36 isn't the same because I don't have the extra abilities. Tier 4 is still imbalanced in that regard.

'oh and also' by AdmiralAwesome Submitted on 2008-11-13 10:03:27 CST Maybee they should boost the virtual lvl to 40 in tier 4 battlegrounds since basicly the majority of the players will be at the lvl cap - unlike in the earlier tiers when it seems to be pretty spread out

Polar Bears as Choppas? Now THATS an ORC!!! And I like the idea of the boost to level 40 in tier 4 battlegrounds. Simple and solves the problem. Levels 30 to 35 isn't something you should have to "get past" in order to do pvp again in a game that is dedicated to pvp.
