Van Hemlock News Podcast for September 6th 2009Mon, 7 Sep 2009 20:19:00 GMT [download/play]
This week we're changing the format slightly and bringing you two shows. The first show is the news, and we've moved the rest of the talking to later in the week.
Keep an eye out in a few days for Van Hemlock's impressions of WAR and Jon's impressions on some XBox Indy games.
Please comment on if you like this change, it'll give the same amount of content per week but in easier to manage chunks and hopefully please everybody.
'LIke the change...' by Anjin Submitted on 2009-09-08 18:30:25 CST ...so far. As long as both halves stand on their own, I think the shorter format is an improvement. Kudos!
'I prefer longer shows but...' by Saylah Submitted on 2009-09-08 23:16:20 CST I like longer shows. I like to sit down to listen when I have a block of time. I'm not a sitcom fan either - 30 mins here-n-there, is something I don't like much. However, I love the show so will continue to listen regardless of the show length.
'Please stop saying Mariah!!' by Saylah Submitted on 2009-09-08 23:25:09 CST I've held off for as long as I can. I love your accents, truly I do. However, every time you say "Mariah" instead of "MOR-ee-uh" a little piece of me dies inside. Re-check the pronunciation used in the films or listen here:

Whew, I feel better getting that off my chest. It's been offending my ears far too long. :-)
'I thought that too....but' by Dathmar Submitted on 2009-09-10 17:58:56 CST knowing these lads are pretty smart I assumed they were correct and perhaps the film was wrong (or more likely they wanted to use a nicer sounding name)

....but this could be wrong ?
'Well...' by Saylah Submitted on 2009-09-10 19:51:51 CST They hired linguists to help the actors for the movies so I'm thinking are probably correct AND I've never heard anyone else use that pronunciation. :-) Like EVER
'heh' by Token Submitted on 2009-09-10 21:41:50 CST Be fair guys, our beloved hosts have never claimed to be informed.
'Works' by Akely Submitted on 2009-09-10 22:47:01 CST Longer shows is more my cup of tea. But the statement that news need to be a little more current is very valid. Perhaps it will be great to have shows come out more often. We'll see.
I know several people that say a show should be less than an hour long. I disagree. Content is king. And besides, all my MP3 players have pause buttons.
Laughable how the clowns measure "console sales in Europe". Seriously, somebody need a good smack on the head.
'Howmay I Help You?' by SteveGriffing Submitted on 2009-09-13 07:45:06 CST I loved your tale of stumbling into the Games Workshop then retreating from what sounded like overzealous employees trying maybe too hard to sell you some war miniatures, not sure if I like the split format since the second "half" was about twice as long as the first half, 2 halves equaled one and a half this time. Anyways I was entertained as usual, thanks
'Champions' by Sente Submitted on 2009-09-13 19:04:46 CST The nerf they made in Champions happened on US launch day, when people had played in pre-order early access a few days. There were no characters carried over from beta, so anyone that were hit by it were in early access basically.
They have issued a full retcon (aka respec) for everyone, but it is not a regular mechanic at this time in the game. You can only do partial retcons normally in the game.
The change was necessary I believe, but the timing could certainly have been better (as in they should have done it before).
