"Breakfast Supper"
The Highlights from show 75! Beau and Leala break a bit of the mold as they have breakfast at 6 o'clock at night. They venture to a local iHOP
(like iPhone, 'cept breakfast) that serves crazy piles of strawberry
pancakes and watermelon muffins topped with entire whole halves of a
pig.
A lady with a noisy kid shows up and stays actually
pretty quiet, we order food and discuss Free Realms and how people
think it is a "kids game."
We are always looking for
locations to record in, and some record better than others. This
location does pretty well, sounds better on headphones, and the
background noise gets quieter later in the show. We appreciate any
patience as we work out not only places to record, but the shows
format. I want the show to be a slice from the lives of two MMO gamers.
This is how we talk, this is what we talk about.
Look! More music. This weeks sad music comes from Azure Ray,
a suggestion from a Twitter friend. Go here to watch one of those
videos that a fan makes of a still picture with the song in the
background. And, of course, the "video" gets like 200k views. That's
the internet for ya.
'Luper?' by MuneMud Submitted on 2009-05-11 12:48:34 CST Interesting/good show as usual. Only problem is I get hungry while listening to your podcast during my commute. I'm a breakfast-for-any-meal kind of guy.
Anyway, Azure Ray sounds like Luper.
'Nope, not Luper.' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2009-05-11 12:58:41 CST ...but I didn't even think of that..you're right, kind of.
She's living on the West Coast, doing her thang. Maybe we'll run across each other at Fan Faire?
Stay Hungry!

'nice' by Token Submitted on 2009-05-11 14:46:56 CST The new format is settling in quite nicely. Of course Leala talks a lot of sense, Beau talks like he's from another planet, but it's not usually boring which is a triumph.
'Iced Tea' by blaktalon Submitted on 2009-05-11 15:18:09 CST It seems like every breakfast show, Leala gets iced tea, granted this show was at nightish.
Eeeeeeeew. Pancakes and iced tea. Blech!
'hahahaha' by LealaTurkey Submitted on 2009-05-11 18:05:24 CST Iced tea goes with everything! I don't drink coffee so yeah. haha
'Not a kids-only game but still has nothing for me...' by Saylah Submitted on 2009-05-12 02:58:34 CST Good show. I think Beau sometimes fails to see that the sane way he's passionate about the way he approaches gaming others are too but in a different play style. Free Realms is heavily comprised of two things I ABHOR:
1. Mini games - can't stand them!
2. Excessive instancing - E-V-E-R-Y-THING s instanced. POTBS lost me at hello of because that. And no that's the same as WOW, EQ2,WAR, etc where you could level to max without any hardship and never step inside an instance. The majority of WOW quests happen open world whereas, FR is the opposite.
For the same reasons that GW is only loosely a traditional MMO, FR is even less so. Happy for ppl that enjoy it but it's totally nit fir me. My nephews who are ore-teens and played WOW for yrs but both left shortly after WOTLK and they didn't like FR either. They said "kids game" but what I think some ppl mean when they say that is that it's not a traditional MMO and isn't going to hold much appeal for players that prefer one. That's not good or bad, it's simply a preference.
I dated someone for several years who loved breakfast food while it's my least favorite food/meal. Thank Heaven for Cracker Barrel. He had is breakfast food while I could have the lunch or dinner menu depending what meal we were having there. Yep that place saw us often.
'Ugh thr typod was on tablet PC using stylus' by Saylah Submitted on 2009-05-12 03:00:44 CST I like the show better and better because of the new format. If you could increase your volume a little bit it would help.
'Typod? lol' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2009-05-12 04:04:00 CST I agree, players that want a more traditional MMO might not like it, but mainly because it is nowhere near a traditional MMO, just like Second Life or There.
I just think people are thinking too hard about it, you know? Meanwhile, the game just goes on with itself, being fun and for open for anyone.
We'll see, I'm really interested to see what happens after some of the buzz dies down and the game gets a new area to explore or an expansion..I have a feeling they'll time them to keep attention strong.

'New format' by xabbott Submitted on 2009-05-15 13:26:44 CST I heard one episode when you both went out, thought it was one time thing. I didn't like it but figured things would be back to normal soon. Now I listen to this one and it is the same way.
It's harder to hear, very distracting, and...why do I want to hear you order food?
I normally like the show and blog but not digging this change. If others like it, so be it just thought I'd voice my opinion.
' I hear ya about not hearing...' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2009-05-15 13:56:27 CST ...we are figuring that out as we go along. Essentially, I don't want to do a normal podcast anymore. I don't want to read patch notes or just discuss one game. I kind of want to have it be a snap-shot of how we live and what we talk about.
Also, my blogging has taken over big time, so the podcast and the blogging go together, kinda' to present one larger picture of how we game/live/stay together.
Sorry you don't dig it, though. Be patient, it will get better, sound-wise.
But we are always ordering food at every show. :)

'Thanks for eating in my ear' by Coda Submitted on 2009-05-15 19:02:14 CST Gross, I mean really. Enough. Very unprofessional. I spent alot of time teaching my kids to chew with their mouths closed, now I get to hear you guys chew your food thru a microphone. No more for me, thanks. You and Leala usually put out a quality show, but this is ridiculous. Bad sound and worse food. I mean iHop? Can you say food poisoning?
'Yeh man, the greasy spoon we normally eat at was closed...' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2009-05-15 21:09:17 CST ...and yeh, chewing happens.
