"Mabinuubies, Home Games and Double Dorks!"

The Highlights from show 70!

  * 0:00-32:00: Beau shows Leala a bit of Mabinogi, his new current favorite MMO. Leala has a stroke while trying to wrap her head around the concepts of a F2P game, and Beau strains to convince Leala that the game is fantastic. Trust him.

*33:30-48:17: The Great Couple of Dorkdom have a discussion about Home Games, or games that a player will always hold within their hearts, much like a Celine Dion song..

*48:26-1:18:44: Double Date! Beau and Leala interview Augustina and Heyoka, and make a few fart jokes while they're at it.

*1:19:00-1:32:00: What did we play this week? GAMES, fool. We give a rundown.

The music from the show is brought to you from the band Metric. The song is called "The Twist." Very sexah!

Here is the Onion video Beau mentions. THE VIDEO IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK, BUT IS FUNNY AS H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS.

Episode 70 Discussion Thread

That is cool how Beau was playing with and teaching Leala. Did a 10 yrs old really ask Leala to merry him, ha-ha that is cute.

I'm with you Leala WASD all the way, and that is funny how all the games talk about how they aren't going to make you kill 10 rats and they had you do it in this game :) I wonder if there's a huge group of people somewhere that love killing those rats in games.

And there was gold spamming? I can't believe it, it's a fine game it it's F2P and if you want to spend money you would just pay the game right? not outside gold sellers. strange.

There does seem to be some good points about the game like healing not to easy and pets are cool.

It sounds like Darkfall copied the skill system from Mabinogi, seems ok though :)

BTW you guys are getting more refined every time, also are you folks still going to do your if you build it will they come sketch? or maybe when your playing other games you can tell us how you would implement it in your game, unless your really going to make it and don't want to look like your taking ideas, but then it should be fine because your not taking ideas but making them better & doing things different.

Great interview I like hearing about how couples play games together, something I have not gotten to do yet in life.

I liked how you Ask couples on Double date how they first started getting into their 1st games and why they chose that game and how and stuff like that. I always like hearing how people started doing things in life.

I think that's just proof that the best items are still only in game, and not in cash shops.

You got a significant other? Why don't we interview YOU? :)

Thanks for posting this music is from Metric. It reminds me of the music in the movie the Virgin Suicides. Haunting and kewl.

by the way I have had three home games. WOW (until my account got hacked and literally I did not feel safe anymore), then eq2 (but it got boring), and now LOTRO and it is very comforting... have a house in shire too... come visit...

What LOTRO server do you play on? What level are you?

I might start that game up again, I would be starting fresh =)

...after last weeks dramathon :)

Was funny listening to the Mabinogi part. You have more patience than me! After trying to get my non-MMO friend who played WoW as his first (and only) MMO to try other games with me a dozen times, I've lost patience with trying to help a friend into a new game. He was the same way with "click-to-move" in Lineage 2 and resorted to the logic of "if it's not just like WoW, I don't like it." UGH. I just don't even bother anymore and play games I *know* I could never convince your average casual gamer to play (EVE, Lineage 2, etc).

Sounds like you're really enjoying your F2P month

...especially because 60 bucks ain't going to hit my card! lol You should try em out, though.

Haven't you been in on DF? What's it been like? I am going to grab in a few months when I CAN grab it! lol

'@mystery323x on LOTRO' by Pufnstuf

Actually I have a few homes on LOTRO. I abhor alts since I hate inventory management. I have a 55 hunter on Silverlode but recently started a level 20 Burglar on Gladden named Puf (of course ^_^). I am in an awesome kinship there since no one is at endgame and everyone is just having fun roleplaying and all. It is small, but I like how LOTRO is steering new players to certain servers so the low levels are crowded. I am a big believer in a fresh server... Everything is more meaningful!

Book 7 they are revamping the elf and dwarf zones and making the new game experience a little smoother so you may want to keep that in mind.

SO if you are coming, come to Gladden.

Yep I hopped in it. Was not impressed and I will completely reverse the comments I made on your previous Spouse Aggro. As unfounded the bashing were, they're pretty much all deserved.

The game is a mess. A mess in every aspect you can mess up in - account management, sales, server stability, game performance, community, the list goes on.

It's worth looking at if you like the idea of a FPS type action RPG in a UO style 3d "hardcore" world, but it would definitely be a good idea to wait till they iron some things out. It's such a trite thing to say, but people who have bought it already really are "paying for beta."

The thought of an MMO home is a bit of a difficult choice for me.

I guess SWG was my first MMO and I always feel like I measure everything I play against that one. However when I return to it it feels so different from the game I remember that it's not the same.

To me it's more spiritual than the location its the people I like to game with. I still play games with the old SWG crew and I regularly play games with my new friends.

I guess my rituals are log on to Team Speak or check my IM's for friends and see what thye are up to. Our current home is LOTRO

Saying all of that the game I have quit and returned to the most has to be CoH.

On the free stuff, I really hope you both check out Fusion Fall and no doubt Free Realms will ne on the agenda
