Voyages of Vanguard #41

Make sure to go to http://voyagesofvanguard.wordpress.com/ to read our blogs and articles!

Some highlights from show 41:

* What did we do for the last week?
Luper has been playing some PvPness!
Beau has been having some IMMERSION adventure!!

* We answer an email about  playing with family and friends.

* We get REALLY angry and have a massive argument that is sure to upset anyone under  the age of Tween. Seriously though, Beau had way too much coffee and was in a mood cuz' of the forums. Also, he ALWAYS plays the Devil's advocate and always argues the other side. He doesn't hate raiders and raiding, he just LOVES a good debate! Still, he apologizes for his rant.

* Best of the BEST!

This episodes' 4 most used words are: like, mmhhmm, you, know.

Wanna play the game Luper plays with her little bro? GO HERE.

And here is a great video of pvp server naughtiness with Lupita and her Crew!

This week's song (Luper's pick this week...Beau will pick a CRAZY one next week.) is "Sleeping Son" by Nightwish.

Episode 41 Discussion Thread

'Er... ' by Luper
Submitted on 2008-05-17 16:56:17 CST
I told Beau that he had the title of the song wrong, but he still put it up. lol. The song name is "Sleeping Sun" by Nightwish, not "son."

I was pretty sick last week, so my voice sounds all funny. Haha. Some people say that raspy voices are cool, but I think they sound like someone smoked too much- gross!

Anyways, I just wanted to fix that because Nightwish is an awesome band, and the title of the song should be credited correctly.

I can't wait to read the emails and comments about your family gaming experiences, etc.

Cheers,

~Luper

That video had me wanting to get up and dance. Flash back to the 70"s ummm OK so I wasn't even pre-teen by the time the 70's was over ,but it still made me want to get up and strut. Nice video. it was put together well.

Luper called you a PooHead Beau. It made me bark out a lound laugh and my drink spill in my lap. It looked like I had pee myself. And wouldn't you know it a custermer (I am at work)came in before I could dry off.

For the playing with family thing I would have to say it does bring you a bit closer together. My younger brother and I have partyed together for years ,but it was allways just that one ,two and some times three times a week. and we was not allways really partying together. We was just at the same party. Then we both started playing EverQuest and we would spend all night talking together as we played. Even today we are still close. not just brothers we became friends. So yes playing MMO can help familys become more close.
We allso got one of our friends into EQ. He ended up becoming like a brother to us. Still today even with him not playing we are still tight. For years we would all get together and have very small(only 3 of us) lane (is it LINE or LANE?)partys at each otheres homes.

Thanks for the shout out Alik Steel

Ps I think I am going to kill of Fayth and re-up as Alik Steel

Fayth, It's LAN party, not lane or line because you have to all share the same LAN line. It means Local Area Network. ^_^ I hope that helps. You got me giggling for awhile there.

It was interesting to listen to your argument when both of you were right. YES, VG has a lot of content, but mostly for the low to mid levels. I honestly do not believe one toon can go through all the content available in this game. VG is very ALT-centric. YES, the players who burn through content too fast to level to 50 lose out on a lot that the game has to offer. YES, the VG devs do need to put in more content for all the players who are level 50 and are looking for stuff to do. Other MMO's that have been out for a year usually at this time start dropping hints of expansion to keep their playerbase happy. IMO, VG with their rocky launch and SOE takeover is approximately six months behind in the usual MMO timetable. SOE knows the desire is there for high level content. We as players need to be patient and give them the six month grace to make the content we want that will be worth waiting for. Great show, you two. Every time I listen, you make me want to go log in!

I'm only about halfway through listening to this episode, but here's a question for Crazy Bean: you say your guild is raiding 5 nights a week to gear everyone up for the next big thing. Sounds fine for every other raid-centric MMO, but... has SOE even mentioned that there will be a 'next big thing' anytime soon? I don't follow the official forums, but that certainly hasn't been my impression, and aren't you just risking burning through APW (and burning out overall) if there's no 'next big thing' coming down the pike this year?

I dunno, VG always struck me as a game where moderation is the key...

SOE already has plans for the next raid zone. Supposedly it will be coming out this Christmas! I'm excited to see what lays ahead. Like Belepheriel has stated, SOE had to take over the game and fix many bugs, etc. We do need to allow them about a 6 month leeway. I talk to the developers on a daily basis (being that I'm the Blood Mage class lead), so I know they are working very very hard to improve the game. We can't expect too much out of them, but we do need to keep them on their feet!

I don't think we are risking anything by burning through APW. The sooner we get people fully geared, the sooner we can do other things. We could help test the new raid content. Perhaps, just have a griffon race.. who knows! Like many have said, there is a lot more to Vanguard then just raiding, adventuring, pvp, dueling, diplo, and crafting.. there is a whole world for us to explore and immerse in.

I truly can't wait till there is a checkers side game implemented. It will be very nice to have one in my house. I'm fine with these little things, as long as I know they are working on bigger and better things. I'm sure everyone can understand that.

Ah good then! Had no idea they were busy at work on the next raid. Now if they'd just fix the targeting issues and implement my genius idea that every other game on the planet uses: if the corpse has no loot, it shouldn't bring up a clickie box the size of a barn door that gets in my way of targeting the next mob in the group!

Maybe I'll restart VG after GU5: Mounting Entomophobia...
