Voyages of Vanguard #4Sun, 3 Jun 2007 03:50:00 GMT [download/play]
This week in the Voyages of Vanguard, Troy talks
about starting a cross server organization of helpful allied players
called the VoV Friends Network. He then talks about the State of the
Game, with a letter from David Gilbertson, and how his computers have
faired this week. Following, he describes a number of Game Notes, a
thought on the gold and item duping in the game, and the three wishes
he has for Vanguard. Troy wraps the show up with a spotlight on his
23rd level necromancer Pidge, and what his other characters are up to.
And finally, he ends the show with a rant of why some people cant
justify spending the monthly fee on MMOs.

'Count me in for the VoV Friends Network' by Jaye Submitted on 2007-06-05 08:08:52 CST I've been listening to the VoV Podcasts, and like the idea of a friends network. I'm Jaye Wizziefingers, level 40 Ranger from the Thunderaxe server, and I'm always happy to lend a hand!
'Game information is hard to find.' by Nosferum Submitted on 2007-06-07 12:32:53 CST ---A friend and I recently began to play Vanguard. I had beta-tested it briefly, so we had an advantage over the average new player. Still, though, my friend had questions I couldn't answer, and the in-game tool tip hadn't yet provided what he wanted to know.
---So, we began to search for informational sites via Google. I had personally remembered Silky Venom and VGTact from beta. I haven't found Warcry useful since they changed from Crossroads long ago. The point is that we had a damned tough time finding even straightforward descriptions of the classes. Most websites just copied form the game manual (what value is that?), and game manuals provide very little useful information in that regard. Heck, after playing a class to level 7 we had a far better idea (we assume) of what that class would find themselves doing in the long run.
---I'd be interested in listening to you address the problem of lack of out-of-game community and the difficulty of new players to come into the fold. Based on our experience in Vanguard (I've played 13 other MMOGs over the last decade) I'd assert most new players feel lost; not to mention lonely.
'VoV is always looking for ideas for class and race definintions' by Shalimar616 Submitted on 2007-06-07 15:54:36 CST I will look into adding a feature where each week we look at basic information about classes, races, and various builds. I am always open to ideas on providing better information to the players of Vanguard.
I hope you stick with the game Nosferum, and would very much like to hear from you in the future on your perception of the game.
