Great show again Troy..I'm honored to be on it so much!
So you are using the new mic right now? If you stop this show and just listen to a little bit of the last shows, you can hear it. Also, might be helping that ou are not recording Skype..(or whatever program you use to record conversations..)Sounds much better..your voice seems a little lower maybe? I would bet it's because that other mic adds alot of high end, while a better mic will make you sound like you do naturally. That was awesome of someone to send one along!
Can't wait for the next episode!

I thought I share my most recurring (and annoying) experience in dealling with GMs.

Sometimes the GMs have to log in as your character to fix an issue, and this causes big problems if you use some custom UIs (like Drox).

On a number of occaisions I've logged back in to my character to find all of the toolbars from Drox devoid on contents, this is very frustrating since a number of those toolbars (like the G15 keyboard toolbar) were full of quite lengthy macros... I'm a bard, a lot of song selection, equipments swapping, and just general utility macros.

I've spoken to some GMs about this before and they are aware of the problem. I wish the dev's would fix this as a really high priority.

First of all, why call me Bouturkey? I mean I'm really curious,,is it a foreign thing? A mistake is cool, but I'd rather you say it was for some cool reason like that my name means "kick ass" in Dutch or something.
Secondly, you better get back on those forums and we'll hear NO talk of you leaving! Don't make me fight you!
:)
And yeh they are a great band..I have SO many cool tracks. I do need to be careful though, with the whole copyright thang.
See ya in game!

I had a friend in high school with that name and he spelled it like that, I asked him why and he said it was the name of an old family lore of this Indian chiefs' son who killed a thousand invaders by him self in a corn field and when it was over they had to pry the axes out of his hands because he could not let go anymore on his own....wait no i remember now I was lazy to look at your name and I am a horrible speller, im sorry :)

I know I miss every one and the game as well but for me it just wasnt working out. I got station access so I am going to poke in and check on it every now and again.

Yeah I love their stuff, top 5 bands for sure for me, I wish they did more stuff here in the states.

..let's just pretend your story is the correct account. In fact, I rather like Bou. What's TRUE is that I am some Cherokee, my grandfather and mother both raising my father on land given to their family by the government at some point for re-payment. I am on the roll, and always wanna study more about the cherokees. Right now I'm reading a great book on it.
Well, the cool thing about the Station Access is that it doesn't feel like you are leaving something behind. You can always go check in. Also, there are 5 different subs hitting the credit card at different times. So, the world will always be there.
I'm going to try out some more different music on the next one too.

You are da MAN! Your approach to playing an MMO, particularly Vanguard is what everyone needs to do to enjoy a game as fun and full of content as Vanguard. Immersion is the only way to go! I enjoyed the tales of your adventures immensely and I feel that this is what VoV needs more of to get more players to join! Let's not talk about SOE or bugs or performance issues or patches. Talk about what we do in-game that makes it so much fun to play! I'll tell you, just imagining a half fox/half man mutant thing booking it to the island to buy a housing plot had me ROFL!! That was great! I wish you were on Seradon. We Rangers could group up and terrorize the mobs! Looking forward to your next installment!

...I'm actually going to talk more bout "immersion" (spelling?) lol on my next segment. I am practicing a mild form of it. I will talk about the different levels of it..and how it can affect the gameplay. It's great in a game like Vanguard, that provdies alot of landmarks and things that you can actually SEE way off in the distance. For example, the quest might say"go look for the southern watch tower and you can look, and actually see it. I love that.
Thanks for lissenin!
Beau
PS: Perhaps I'll roll a character on the Seradon...I mean, it's only 4 servers, thats easy to have a character on each. :)

Maybe we can get Pidgelet and Jaye back into Telon if we let them know how much fun we're having. and congrats on the house plot!

*As he stands within the crowded tavern, Belepheriel raises his mug of Elven Wine, "Here's to Rikoo Rakoo! He may be small in stature, but he has the spirit of an adventurer and a heart as large as a Zyfuurnal Warrior! Huzzah!"

How's that for immersion?

..and while I think immersion and roleplay are very similar, I am talking more about soemthing else than roleplay. BUT, I try to roleplay when I can. There was an Orc the other night playing IN CHAT roleplay, and he was AWESOME..it was so funny, he had this character. I was going to be so mad if someone made fun of him, cuz he really was being cool. I love that stuff.

'System performance' by scytale2
Submitted on 2008-02-13 07:52:54 CST
Thanks Troy/Beau.

Beau, are you comfortable with system performance, as you said you had a low power system. I dropped again last month, as I was simply fed up with being chucked out due to graphical glitches, which I think were system-related. Also one of my characters got stuck at L8, because the NPC she needed to give her an important quest wasn't there. I just don't know why these things are still happening. Of course the worst thing about VG is that the game often slows down on poor systems (like mine) whenever you are in danger, which basically means that you are hit three times before you get a chance to retaliate.

Vanguard does have an amazing allure, which puts it ahead of EQ2 for me and I think that is the combat system, crafting and diplomacy - yes, all three. EQ2 combat is too clunky and slow, crafting just becomes very boring and well there is no diplomacy. That's not saying I won't try EQ2 again in a bit, but I don't have any hopes it will keep me entertained, whilst I know that, had I a good PC, Vanguard would do exactly that/

Keep up the good work.

'Thanks! ' by Beauturkey

Yeh, I am very comfortable with system performance..I have it at almost highest settings (with a few key things turned down, like grass) and get between 25-40 fps. I can get higher flying, and at times it DOES just stop, and have to load. But overall, you get used to it and just between now and when I started the game has improved a ton.
What is working for me is my little experiment. I am practicing a lil "immersion", not in the roleplay sense, but in a way of playing the game that is forcing me to slow down. And it has worked so far. I see things more, I pay attention. I don't groan everytime I have to walk somewhee and go "can't I just ZAP there?" . So for me, it could probably be a few different games and work well. But Vanguard has a sense of realism to it that I love.

Right on! I couldn't agree more. One of the best things about VG is how immersive it is and how detailed the environments are. Nothing kills that like chat about (inane) real life crap.

If you want to chat about SWG or Chuck Norris or any of that other BS, make a new chat channel or use group chat or whatev. Same with the bickering little kids. Take it outside.

I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your Podcast and even though you don't play as Vanguard as much, your enthusiasm has gotten me to start my account back up for at least a month! Hope we get to hear more soon, and also I'd in a future show I'd like to hear some information on how returning users can get back into the game. What I mean is like I have a lvl 21 Bard and having not played for at least 8 months I'm completely lost. Just an idea.
Have a good one.
