Voyages of Vanguard #29Sat, 15 Dec 2007 19:11:00 GMT [download/play]
This week in the Voyages of Vanguard, Troy and Karen, talk about the
release of Game Update #3. They discuss the 8 major points of this
greatly heralded patch and talk about how this will affect the game and
their characters. Troy sadly must say goodbye to his idea of the VoV
Friends chat channel, but with even more remorse he says goodbye to
Karen who is stepping back from Vanguard for the moment: Look forward
to Troy and Karen teaming up for EQual Perspectives, a show devoted to
Everquest 1 and 2 and is also another podcast within the Virginworlds'
Collective. Troy espouses how nifty the new Station Launcher and
welcomes everyone to try it (its FREE). Troy and Karen thank
Lucifrank for being the sponsor of the show, and welcomes others to
support Brent in his efforts. Finally, Beau Turkey gives his newb
comments on Vanguard.

'Saying "see you later" to Karen' by Noyika Submitted on 2007-12-15 19:56:47 CST Wish you didn't have to go, but I understand. I was one of the many that suggested to Troy that you should become a regular. You two make excellent co-hosts. I was never an EQ player or I would certainly be listening to EQual Perspectives. I really enjoyed hearing you on the show, and hope you'll be making many guest appearances on VoV.
Best Wishes,
Noyika of Seradon
'Good Luck Karen!' by Ardwulf Submitted on 2007-12-16 03:48:13 CST This kind of sucks. On the other hand, I have also stepped out of Vanguard for a few months and am playing EQ2 in the interim. So I'm glad that we'll still get to hear Karen, and glad that there wil finally be more EQual Perspectives!
'THe end of VOV??' by Flexe Submitted on 2007-12-16 04:23:34 CST Hey all,

'The Show Goes On!' by Shalimar616 Submitted on 2007-12-16 08:04:16 CST The show will continue, but in a slightly different format. I have some ideas that I am working on that will be appearing in the next several weeks or months. I will hopefully still have Karen on in an informal basis, as well as a guest every month composed of players, GMs, guild leaders, and personalities of the industry.
Look forward to hearing more of Beau Turkey and Razadine. I am also looking forward to other people to record small snippets of audio for the show. If you are interested in doing so, but are unsure how to -- bug Brent to re-release his great show on Podcasting 101.

'EQual Perspectives' by James Submitted on 2007-12-17 09:45:20 CST Sad to hear Karen is leaving VoV, but happy that she will be part of the relaunched EQual Perspectives crew! People change games. It's just what we do. I'm just glad we'll still be able to hear Troy and Karen's interactions on EQual Perspectives and they can still share their passion for gaming--regardless of the title.
Admittedly, I am more of a fan of VoV than I am of the actual game because of the spirit and enthusiasm Troy has brought to his podcasts since I began listening this summer. Keep up the good work on VoV and I'm also excited to hear what's in store for us on EQual Perspectives!
'Great show!' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2007-12-17 21:36:19 CST I have been playing the past few days and have been really blown away, I cover it in my next segment. I LOVED going to Khal...it felt like a really exciting big city. I think this patch was just what the game needed....and dern it, FLYING reindeer!! YAY!!
'Diplomacy Change was really a crafting change' by varka Submitted on 2007-12-18 00:08:53 CST Hi Troy,
The sole diplomacy change you mentioned was really a side effect of changes to the way crafters get high level recipes. They were spread out amongst adventuring drops from mobs and the diplomacy one mentioned.
So yes, diplomacy is still dead. Not even T5 loot there yet. :(

'Fix the Necro Pets' by Shalimar616 Submitted on 2007-12-18 06:41:56 CST Sadly, the necromancer's pet is still broken. Since the class depends at least 50 percent on the pet to hold aggro and to a lesser degree inflict damage, I am dumb founded why they haven't been more aggressive in fixing this.
As a necromancer as my main, I can tell you, that for each day they don't fix this, its one more straw on the camel's back from just throwing your hands up and walking away from the game.
As for now, I will grit my teeth and play Ratook, my ranger.
Fix the pet, PLEASE!

'Accounts Re-Enabled - Christmas comes early in Telon.' by Dathmar Submitted on 2007-12-19 06:40:04 CST Looks like SOE has re-enabled all old Vanguard accounts with 30 days free gameplay.
Time to dust off the Vanguard DVDs and get into Telon once again.
'Keep them coming!' by Belepheriel Submitted on 2007-12-19 11:13:55 CST Another great show, you two. I'm sad that you won't be on every episode, Karen. I'll miss you. I guess I'll be spending a lot of time on Journeys with Jaye to see how my other fellow Ranger is doing. And thank you! You said my name exactly right this time! Ratook could be an honorary Wood Elf! You two have a great holiday!
