From the dark and narrow slums of Khal, where one can find anything for sale ... including one's soul. To broken rocky cliffs of Kojan, stormy and windswept, more than one ship finding its final fate Ending
in the tumultuous twisting pathway from Kaons Rush, past broken rapids
of white water, dizzying rushing waterfalls, ending in the torpid black
swamp known for the cries of anguish and shouts of despair.
This week's show Troy has the great fortune to
interview Jaye Wizziefingers again, and they talk about the really cool
and awesome things in Vanguard. The conversation goes a bit long, since
they were having so much fun talking Vanguard. In response, Troy
postpones the Highlight of the Healer Classes to next week and cuts his
other features short. To close the show out, Troy talks about his new
blog, the Emerald Tablet at www.emeraldtablet.wordpress.com.

Grats on 20, Troy. As I was listening to you and Jaye give your "Top 5 Favorite Things About Vanguard" it got me thinking. Perhaps once the Trial Island is introduced or after GU#3, you guys could do a "Top 5 Things Everyone New to Vanguard Should Know" highlighting your memorable experiences and trials and tribulations starting out as new players.

Are there any plans for a vovFriends network on the Halgar server.
Keep up the good work

'VoV Friends Network Can Exist On All Servers' by Shalimar616
Submitted on 2007-09-27 15:47:30 CST
Hi Flexe and All Players of Vanguard,
The VoV Friends Network is a grassroots organization started and maintained by players in the game. With that preface, I ask all players to join or create their of VoV Friends Chat Channel within the game of Vanguard.
To join, simply type the command /join vovfriends
As a matter of fact, even to create your own vovfriends chat channel you use the same command.
I implore you Flexe to log into Vanguard, and type /join vovfriends then switch to that channel and say 'Hello All...." and perhaps you may get a response. If nothing else, you may eventually find a new friend on your server.
I welcome players from all servers to send me a tell and I will add you on to the rolling list of new VoV friends!

'Word Slips in Episode 20' by Shalimar616
Submitted on 2007-09-27 15:54:07 CST
Hi Guys,
I made a couple of word slips in this week's show. Most notable was my reference to grand spires and castle in the world of Lord of the Rings. I had a brain spasm there and said, Thulsa Doom; which is not part of LotR but Conan (he was the nemesis in the first movie). What I meant to refer to is the tower of Barad-Dur.
I also made a slip and seemingly suggested that the card game, Legends of Norrath was a "vague" game. What I meant to say was that I have a "vague understanding of the game". I apologize to those who enjoy the game.
Thanks
Troy
'Legends & Lore Questions' by Shalimar616

I am gathering questions to pose to a Vanguard developer here in an upcoming episode of Voyages of Vanguard.
I am looking for questions concerning the Legends and Lore of the world of Telon. If there is something you have been dying to know about a mob, an ancient ruin, some historical aspect in the game, please post your questions. Alternately, you can write me at troy@virginworlds.com.
Thanks!

Thanks to listening to Troy and reading Jaye's blog, I finally started up VG this week. I keep joining vovfriends but I think I'm the only one there? Is there an IRC-like /who command I can see who's on what channels?
Anyway, having a blast so far in Telon but man, oh man, is there a lot to learn. I haven't a clue about most of what I'm doing so far, just making it up and trial and error as I go.
I'm actually writing a Day 3 Impressions post on my blog right now, in fact.
Hope to see some of you guys in-game, and hey... congratulations on making it to 20 Troy! I remember awhile back you'd mentioned throwing in the towel if the subscriber numbers went down so I'm very glad you've kept up the work. Consider it special that I subscribed for this long without even having the game at all :)

Shoot me a tell next time you're on. I'd be happy to help answer any questions you have about the game, because you're right, there is a very steep learning curve when you first start out.
Can you also toss me a link to your blog entry about Vanguard? I'd love to read your impressions of the game.

Talyn, if you get a chance, I'd like to get the link to, or name of, your blog as well. I'm thinking of giving V:SoH a second shot in a couple months and would love to read as many different peoples' first impressions of the game as I can get my hands on.

Hi Everyone,
I just finished my next story, called "The Red Cube", and placed it on my blog site: www.emeraldtablet.wordpress.com. I have also placed another four book covers from my earlier publications, as well.
When everyone has a chance, I invite you to visit the blog and read whats there.
Thanks

My blog is on the little blue arrow next to my name :) But here's the url anyway: http://pumpingirony.net/
I didn't do a "review" of Vanguard by any stretch, just discussing some elements that I've encountered in my three days on Telon so far.
I also rolled a ranger yesterday but I don't quite understand the ranged combat I guess. It feels... wrong somehow when the mob aggros before my arrow even hits it. Now, I'll take VG's ranged combat over what I've seen in EQ2 so far any day. But I feel my character should be smart enough to figure out (LOTRO does this best) when he's in melee (pronounced may-lay *smacks Troy* lol) range or not and select the appropriate weapon and combat style. I shouldn't have to spend a slot on my hotbar for a generic ranged attack, and have to activate each generic ranged attack individually. Maybe it changes later, but it's a weird feeling, like my character is quite literally a brainless puppet and I have to pull every string to make him do anything.

Your excitment and enthusiasm about this game has convinced me and I'm looking forward to playing.
I'm just waiting for my new top-end machine before installing.
I'm an explorer type player and it sounds like there is much to explore here.

Yes, Vanguard (and LOTRO) are both satisfying my very high Explorer tendencies. Vanguard has some truly gorgeous things to see and even the mobs are well done. When I see something that towers over me by a good 15' I know not to mess with it, but damn it's cool to just watch for a bit. [Idea: Troy can do a Vidcast with an aussie accent ala the Crocodile Hunter in Telon!]
I love Troy's enthusiasm too. Every new intro he comes up with for the show, he just gets so "into it" that I have to smile; it's really great to actually hear that enthusiasm and energy effect his voice.

(Shameless plug) I started a blog a little while ago just for fun:

It's more from the point-of-view of a bored end game player though, so might offer a different perspective to new players. I do try to be helpful though.
