Voyages of Vanguard #12Mon, 30 Jul 2007 01:38:00 GMT [download/play]
This week in Episode 12 of the Voyages of Vanguard, Troy describes the
big changes in Game Update #2; he is excited about many of the changes
but is dismayed at the developers deciding to eliminate EE (Equipment
Expertise). Troy also follows up with his second discussion on the
races of Telon, with this week centering on the races of the Kojan
Continent. And, finally, he wraps the show up with what his many
characters are doing in the world of Telon.

'BoE/BoP' by varka Submitted on 2007-07-30 00:56:45 CST Hi Troy,
Some of your comments changed my mind on the BoE/BoP changes for low-end items and bags, but I still think it's bad, bad bad for rares and higher items. Given that rares never flooded the market the only reason I can see for this change is to support/augment their decon changes by forcing people to decon the item themselves to profit from it, instead of selling it to a crafter.
I think people will find that this is bad. Most crafters will tell you they spend a lot of money buying rares that end up decon'ing into useless dusts, just hopeing for that heroic dust they get once in a while. Now they'll just buy the heroic dust and all the useless ones will sit on the broker.

'Update #2 - Sony Vanilla?' by scytale2 Submitted on 2007-07-31 04:49:50 CST Loss of Equipment expertise is I guess the first step that Sony made to make Vanguard the same as every other MMO. EE was one of the most interesting innovations. I wonder how long it will be until crafting becomes vastly easier too a la EQ2 update.
This does mean, at least that Sony have a vision for the game, as there are still plenty of things for them to "dumb down". Re- PVP - with the lag and graphics card demand of Vanguard, PvP is very risky. It was one of the reasons that WoW went for the cartoon graphics.
Agreed, I like Kojan best too - the Gulgrethor Fortress is awesome!. But it's a shame that orcs and goblins have to change continents so early.
