The eighth episode of the MMOG Nation Broadcast delves deep into dreary pits of despair and angst. "Slouching Towards Innsmouth" is all about the horror genre and how it intersects with MMO gaming. Good thoughts, Michael.

Just want to say that I have been spending time in Baranid Hills in Vanguard and it feels like a horror movie. Empty farms and farm houses, zombies, ghouls, ghosts, skeletons, diseased undead wolves and bears, etc. plus it is pouring rain the whole time. And of course haunting music. The place may not live up to all the characteristics you state in the podcast, but it tries. It definitely has the creepy vibe, especially for a solo player. There is also another place in the game....Misthaven Crossing (?) that is similar and also has a haunted mansion.
