Witty Ranter #5Wed, 19 Mar 2008 06:04:00 GMT [download/play]
In this episode, Adam gets Shawn from GuildCast, TabulaCast, and OhMyGodRealLife along with Jonathan from The Online Gamer's Anthology and Peter from The Addicted Gamer for
a little Collective rumination on MMO's, as well as much silliness. A
pre-show apology: due to Peter recording his segment in the middle of a
tornado, there may be occasional cows flying by while he talks.... or a
slight buzzing noise. Topics discussed this week include "Why does
the MMO community need Podcasts?" "Corporate MMO's: Friend or Foe to
the non-professional podcaster?", and finally, the bulk of this show is
our "How to start/make a Podcast", with suitably snarky and smart-assed
commentary from four hacks who probably should be put in the podcasting
gulag instead of pushing our knowledge on the rest of the world. This
is reinforced by the fact that our ramblings on how to make the
show weren't even in order. Listening a couple of times is highly
suggested. Enjoy! Login to post a comment
'Sorry for the late release' by Brent Submitted on 2008-03-21 02:06:35 CST ... couldn't figure out which file to upload. No one ever said I had this podcasting thing figured out.
:)
'Well, it helps if...' by trollonfire Submitted on 2008-03-21 12:10:53 CST Your ever-so talented host put the right filename on it :)
Regardless, enjoy!
Future shows will be on time... or Brent will be flogged with a wet noodle 50 times.
'Too much to drink!' by TAG Submitted on 2008-03-21 17:11:57 CST I guess this episode shows why I usually drink water and not wine during recording. I sounded quite, overpowering at times. Still, a great podcast Adam. You did great on editing what at time was just ranter and not at all witty from me.
'That does it!' by Akely Submitted on 2008-03-28 03:27:16 CST Podcasting seems like a ton of work. And even though I sometimes imagine I do have stuff to communicate I realize that all that work would mean less play. . .
I'm seriosly glad some peeps do it though.
Whats up for next the shows?
'The future of the show is... well...' by trollonfire Submitted on 2008-03-28 20:27:03 CST I've got a couple of shows pretty much written out. One will involve a discussion on "How to make an MMO that doesn't suck"
And another will probably just be the usual crew, bitching... the stuff everyone seems to like :)
'The podsafe network et al' by Changlingbob Submitted on 2008-04-03 18:26:56 CST So I'm looking at starting a podcast and was looking at the music stuff you talked about in the show. Basically, can you translate the podsafe music networks T&C, etc into plain english? Peter was saying that it's free to use, and Adam said it cost ¢99, and the website, well, doesn't really say anything. As far as I can tell, its free as long as you credit the website in the audio of the podcast, but I can't really tell and don't really want to get my ass sued off for my first podcast :)
'The PSMN' by Bman Submitted on 2008-04-03 19:57:09 CST I don't know how they managed to get it so wrong on the show about the Podsafe Music Network. Maybe they were thinking of a different site.
All music from music.podshow.com is FREE to use on your podcast, provided that you credit the PSMN during your podcast and link back to them in your show notes. Their guidelines page explains the details:
http://music.podshow.com/music/catch.htm
You can find that link from their main page by clicking on "podcasters register", then on "the guidelines".
Go read it for yourself. I guarantee you can understand it, no matter how legally inept you are.
