This episode of Limited Edition is a very special combined episode with TabulaCast.
Following the recent news announcing the closure Tabula Rasa we had to get the old TabulaCast team together
In this Show John and Matt are joined by Shawn the founder of
TabulaCast and Tia (Avatea) NCSoft Europe's Community Co-ordinator for
Tabula Rasa
We have a rather honest and frank conversation about the news and chat
about the past, present and the future of the TR community.
We have a small chat about comics before the main topic and hope the
comic fans can bear with us whilst we discuss something dear to our
hearts. Login to post a comment
'Thanks for that' by Belo Submitted on 2008-12-04 01:35:19 CST Was hoping you guys would do one final show. I am going to miss TR, but thanks John, Matt, Shawn, and everyone else who made TabulaCast.
'Good stuff...' by VanHemlock Submitted on 2008-12-04 11:43:38 CST Thoughtful, reverent yet pragmatic outlook on it all. Will miss it here, although I'm probably one of the very hypocrites that annoy the hosts so, for the reasons mentioned.
As for other SciFi, I feel it my doody to point out this other possible home for folks who liked FPS-style futuristic gameplay; http://ng.neocron.com/
Gave it a couple of free trial goes in my time, and does seem to bring many of TR's broad themes to bear; pseudo-twitch gunplay, psi powers, interesting sci-fi world (post-apocalyptic rather than alien here). Probably not the same, but possibly similar enough...
'Nice end cast' by Sente Submitted on 2008-12-04 20:25:53 CST Very good podcast, good comments, thoughtful and down-to-earth.
There is certainly room for more SciFi themed MMOs. Althoug thinking on games I have played in the past it was not until my 5th MMO that I actually played a fantasy MMO for more than a few days (that was FFXI). Before thay I played Anarchy Online, Earth&Beyond, EVE and SWG.
I thought Neocron was kind of ok the few times I tried it, although back then my computer did not get along with it so never stuck around particularly long.

You know I really found this a difficult episode to make.
I love the game, NCSoft have been so nice to me over tha last year, but then I felt so royally screwed on this news.
However what I realised is that al the community and Devs at NCSoft didnt see this coming and find out these things at the last minute.
I wish these members of NCSoft well and sorry that people higher up the chain have cause them so much greif.
As for the community, I am so glad I have 'met' so many great players and had such a blast in this game. I enjoyed being a part of it and I am ready to let go.
I have to admit I have been rather vocal lately about peopel slagging off NCSoft and people trying to save the game. You coudl argue that those two points are opposite views, but they really are not.
I find it frustrating that people now show so much intent in saying the game but didnt participate in the community earlier, I also find it difficult to hear people slagging off ncsoft for closing it, but at the same time never played it or unsubbed a long time ago. Many people said 'this game will fail!' then wen it does they moan about NCSoft even though they pratically wished it.
