Troy then goes off on multiple rants about silly names of characters and guilds and the two find time to go off the beaten path again.  Rounding out the show is Beau Turkey in an excellent discussion on Sandbox Games.

*  Shout outs
*  Listener Emails
*  Five Greatest Adventuring Spots in Everquest II
*  Rants

'I made a logistical mistake' by Shalimar616

Hey All,

I feel like a newb; listening to the show I realized that I made a huge logistical error while talking about the second email. Karen and I were talking about Karnor's Castle, and I made the mistake of thinking that it was in Loping Plains off from Greater Feydark. Of course, Karnor's is in the new expansion, Rise of Kunark. Thus, my input into the conversation was a bit strange (LOL).

Love to hear others experience in the new expansion!

Talk to you all soon

Yeah, the second email was mine.
I fogot to sign it, but that's what you get for trying to right an email on a cell phone during a four hour meeting.

Still have to finish this episode... gadzooks 2hours!
I still haven't finished the last VoV.

I need someway to sneak my iPod into meetings.

(Bah, you can't edit posts)

My favorite EQ2 zones....
I'm a sucker for snow zones, so of course Everfrost would be high on my list.
Feerott is another favorite of mine, I just love the jungle look
The new zones from rok including Timorous Deep and the Fens. The field of bones with the ghost dragon is very cool.

I hate Sactum of Scaleborn. Its Claymore signature quest is a time consuming exercise in frustration. I hate having to crawl down to a spot, fight all the way back up, crawl back down again over and over to advance a 20 step quest.

Loam vs Metal....
Oh god thats been an on going debate on the boards with Domino (the crafting dev). The ratio seems especially bad in EL. I farmed everfrost for hours and over a weekend and the ratio came out nearly 50/50

Soloing Epics...
As a matter of fact, there is a epic Nightblood that wanders by the pond in back of Rivervale that I solo'd with my Necromancer. It think I was +20 maybe +30 levels over it. I normally don't attacks grey names out of politeness, but I needed it for a quest. I have this odd habit of never deleting a quest. Once I take it, I will finish it even if I am far above it.

Great show and see you three in a few weeks

'Great Show and Feedback' by Alali

Thanks so much for doing this show...I have been playing EQ2 for about 18 months, and like one of the e-mailers to this episode, I am just now starting to feel completely comfortable.

As far as Troy's complaints about the game, I would just like to add to the end content of this episode. The beauty of EQ2 is the ability to do what we like, and to a large extent avoid the things we do not like. If one wants to only craft, that can happen to a large extent; If one wants to power level to 70 rapidly, that course of action can be taken; conversely, if maxing out AA is a priority-level locking is possible to allow for this.

I think everyone plays a little different and as comrades along for this journey it is good to remember that, and not be too hard on those of us who do things differently then us.

Two great examples of this came up for me with some of the things Troy said. To a large extent I like questing, of which Troy compared generally to "be led around by the nose." In hearing him describe hanging out for hours at a time in one instance killing golems endlessly-I thought hell would be a better choice for me! LOL

I also found it funny that Troy can't stand Pink Armor, but I believe it was he complaining that one of his male alts could not wear a dress in EQ2 on the Maelstrom podcast. They both seem equally disturbing to me, so again it is just a matter of perspective. :)

Lastly, I loved your discussion of favorite areas in game. I fully hope to visit a couple of your recommendations this weekend. Keep up the good work!

Blessings,

Alali-Lucan D'Lere, Knights of the Equinox

I hate to bust your chops like this, but any name that is taken from a fantasy game or book outside of EQ2 is just as bad as naming yourself Youtube. Sure the one you mentioned is a little more obscure then others, but what if you saw "Drizzt Oduren" or "Riand AlThore" walking around? It's just as bad.

And your other names are equally bad as Youtube, Wize Enough or whatever it was. You have plenty of names that are just aweful, and I was shocked when you called out people with crappy names.

Look, don't take this too bad, I love your podcasts and I love you, but I feel I just HAVE to call you out on your hipocracy if noone else will!

I don't like to beat a 50 pound cat to death, but I am utterly astounded that you think that its of equal bad taste to name oneself Youtube as it is Drizzt Oduren? I cannot even fathom your reasoning behind such a statement.

I appreciate your comments as well, so I won't beleaguer the argument with a long tirade of why I don't agree. However, the EULA for the naming convention of the game supports my position that names derived from modern day culture or science fiction does not lend itself to Everquest. I would rather have someone at least try and be creative and name their character after a fantasy character, than to sink into stupidity such as John Stamos (a real character name I saw just today).
