Hey everyone!

I am so pleased to see my latest show up on Virginworlds, and then I noticed all the other wonderful podcasts popping up as well.

I hope this is a resurgence of the awesome website.

I look forward to hearing comments to the show, and here coming up on March 5th Karen and I will hopefully record episode 19.

Hey Everyone,

Episode 19 just finished recording and I am trying to get it uploaded to Virginworlds this weekend.

Its a real doozy and I think you will like it.

Wow Troy, you really have some strong feelings towards EQ2. It sounds like you just don't enjoy playing it.

As a returning player after ... stopped playing right before RoK went live, I've found the game to be very enjoyable. I also tend to solo a lot so I would think we'd have similar ideals but obviously not ;)

I quested from 70-90 with 3 different characters (chanter, assassin and defiler) and all before mid-march. It wasn't slow, tedious or boring. I enjoy questing more than you it seems however.

Gear, gear is a huge upgrade unless you have raid/shard gear. Blowing off 5% dps as you did is just silly, thats a huge upgrade from 0 +dps. Quest gear is definitely not on par with raid or dungeon gear either. I doubt you'll replace those pieces unless you do the level 90 quests or dungeons.

I agree with Karen, so far I've been really happy with the expansion. My only complaint is the way the quests work. You have perhaps 4-5 quests at a hub and then it goes down to 1 or 2 that you follow for the majority of the time. I much prefer working on 5-10 quests at a time instead of the back and forth of just the 1-2 quest lines.

Also, Troy mentioned how slow questing seemed to be to level, well using your math 33 quests to ding right? 33 quests in SF is very quick, probably 1 hour or 2. Many of the quests are very very very simple. There is a lot of back and forth (arg, the pandas!) but mostly quick and very easily soloable.

Troy, there are faction items you can buy just with money also. Get your faction up, you're gonna need to quest to get that. There is no way you did all the Paineel quests and have -5000 faction with them. I did them all and was capped before I finished the entire chain.

I wanted to note the new models that I saw, these probably aren't it but it's what I remember.

displacer beast things (the cats with tentacles)
Tree humanoids
Plant elementals (the large 3 legged guys, perhaps not new?) in Toxx.
The floating beholder things.

Anyway, Troy really sounded put off by the game and seemed to really just be looking for ways to put it down w/o merit.

Karen, keep at him, don't let him run you off! You're the only voice of reason on his podcast ;)

'I am glad you have strong opinions of the game as well' by Shalimar616

Thanks for the comments Celestian, it looks as if you have just as strong opinions about the game as I do.

I have many friends who have expressed the same disappointments as I spoke of in the show.

The state of the game can ultimately be attributed to the Producer. I find his direction in the game disquieting -- if you like it, then you should be rejoicing. If you are like myself and the clan of guys I know, we grudgingly wait until a new regime that will return to the core principles of the game.

I also get tired of people who don't agree with a position, to instantly rant about quitting. However, it is players like myself who have been there since the beginning, that have paved the road for those who come and go over time.

Karen and I will be returning for episode 20 next week.

Until then. . . .

I dunno if I would call my opinions strong. I was just backing up what I liked about the game. The bits you seemed to dislike didn't seen to actually be the case. The part about getting marks gear requiring level 90 isn't true for one. You can get marks gear with level req of 85. The faction quartermasters have gear for 82-85 I believe.

I played EQ2 on release for a long time, I think it's much better now than it's ever been. My friends seem to agree as well because more and more are joining me in the game which I'm very happy about ;)

Good news for people that missed TSO shard farming:

'Good New for Shard Farming?' by Shalimar616
Submitted on 2010-04-09 01:19:03 CST
Oh my god, are you serious about the horrid shard farming? 16 months of unending repetition is what you do for entertainment? The last thing I ever want to see again is a shard -- what a travesty on the EQ2 community.

So now instead of shards to keep you busy for 16 months you are happy about marks? All I can say is "ok" and slowly walk backwards with my hands up in the air!!!

As for equipment. Try doing a search for legendary items from 81 to 90 on the broker. If your server is anything like Kithicor you will find 3 rings -- the same 3 rings! Is this what you call diverse. Mind you, all you find is rings nothing else.

I will admit that the game is fun, but only if you stick to older content. The last expansion was utter dreck. It was at launch and it still is three months later.

'Shards...' by Celestian
Submitted on 2010-04-12 16:51:22 CST
Did you happen to read the post I linked about shards? Because what it says is you won't have to shard farm endlessly to get the end of tier TSO gear, you will just need the drop and the shards for that item. Not all previous gear/shards.

Instead of needing some 40+ shards for a robe you only need 10. Which are easily gained doing the scaled up instances where you get level 90 gear and marks. For those of us that missed TSO this means we can just do a WoE raid and get a few bits of gear for critmit and not have to get tons of shards and previous bits. How that can't be a good thing I dunno but I'm guessing you'll find something.

And yeah, sorry, I like marks. It lets me get gear specific to my class instead of waiting for a random drop.

I don't NEED to search on the broker for legendary gear. I got mine from Quartermasters as a simple result of doing the quests provided. Just doing the quests got me to 90 and so I've been running instances and gaining other bits of legendary. Buying gear is not my idea of fulfillment. If I did need to buy something I could easily find some mastercrafted gear that's level 90.... or if you're not 90 get some marks and get the first tier of mark gear.

For the record, on Crushbone there are 29 pages of level 81-90 legendary items up for sale.

You live on a good server, because on Kithicor there is but 3 rings on the broker. Sadly, those three rings I would not want to equip on my 74th level guy (yet they all seemed to indicate mid 80 level guys).

Karen and I, along with a surprise guest will record this Friday (April 16th) for our next show.

See you all then!

Did a search on Kith's broker and it had 23 pages of legendary items for sale (81-90) and it wasn't just the same 3 rings.

Do you understand what legendary items are?

'Hmmm' by Jmo

Is it possible the items you guys are talking about are faction based, which means that maybe Troy can't see them?

'Legendary items on Kith' by Celestian
Submitted on 2010-04-15 21:58:13 CST
Jmo, I am not looking for items on the quartermasters, the faction based gear. I'm talking about items on the Broker. The items are items anyone of the required level/class can use.

Shalimar, I simply did a item search 81-90 and set the threshold to LEGENDARY. Perhaps you don't know what legendary is? If you need I can make another newbie on Kith and get a movie up to show you how to use the broker to search.

So show me how this doesn't show 25 pages of legendary items on Kith, perhaps I don't know what I am doing.

I loaded it in HD, not sure what youtube will do to it but it's pretty easy to see 25 pages of legendary items level 81-90 on Kith server.

Boy this Celestian just doesn't let go . . . I get the feeling he/she can't accept someone else's opinion.

I really don't have time to pursue your youtube video of 25 pages of worthless legendary items, if they even exist. When I look, I see three pages of rings. When my friends look, they see nothing either.

Needless to say, this is my opinion. If Celestian would like, I am sure I could have him or her on the show so they can express their views. At the end of the day, each person has their own ideas of the game. Its that simple.

You can close your eyes and ignore the youtube vid that clearly shows 25 pages of legendary items (not all of which are rings) on your server that magically you can't see. Doesn't change the fact they exist.

I can easily accept that someone doesn't like a game, what I can't swallow is clearly bogus information. Which brings me back to my original post here and that is that you don't back up your complaints with facts. You can dislike questing and how the mobs look and all that but saying there are no gear upgrades (to buy either with marks or gold, or via quartermasters) is just not true.

I listen because I like EQ2 but sometimes it's like watching Fox TV, the facts are clearly pulled out of somewhere dark and smelly.

Obviously MSNBC minions. But it's so sad that you both had to bring it into the gaming world. And JMO, Man, I thought you was above this type of stuff.

Try this, Maybe watch what they all say, THEN do your own homework to see what is what. Both news groups suck, And both say that the othere news group lies.

Maybe the next time, You can try and keep your personal political beliefs and feeling out of the gaming world.

Hey man. If anyone must know, I don't watch Fox, or MSNBC, or CNN. I watch news from other countries when I want true US news, as they have no bias towards one side or the other, and are usually on the outside looking in, which is the best perspective to have. BBC for example is great at pointing out all of our faults. =p
