EQual Perspectives #15
Mon, 21 Jul 2008 00:40:00 GMT [download/play]

This week Troy and Karen invite Shawn Sibert on to the show to talk about the Inquisitor and the Templar class.  Along the way the trio ramble as far from the topic at hand as possible -- at one point they end up talking about Danielle Bunten Berry, the famous game designer.   We also talk about harvesting, mentoring, and an argument erupts about the looting rights of players who dual box.  Sit back and enjoy the show.

'Segue Music Is Muffled!' by Shalimar616

hey gang, Listening to the show again and I noticed that my segue music is both set too low and also often out of place -- gah! I apologize for that; when I was putting the show together it sounded really good.

The intro music is also muffled too much as well -- oh well, I will get it right next week!

Troy, I dont hear any music at all. =(

I giggled when Karen said she knew you were harvesting but she didn't care when you guys were playing Vanguard. Haha. [Oh, and I saw I was one of your comments for your blog. ^_^ *feels special*]

I have to agree with Shawn completely. Mains should always get loot before alts, but (like you said) if it's going to rot, why not give it to the alt?

I would have to go with content as well. I am also an adventurer at heart. Your race idea was really really interesting! That would be neat, but hmm... the lore behind that new race. Would those people who pick that race be able to keep their character even though the race is not given out later? *inspired and thought provoked*

I logged onto my EQ[1] account and I didn't get all the expansions. I don't play EQII, but when I did that free EQ thingie.. I didn't get all the expansions. They're doing something like this for Vanguard at the moment. They are putting in Isle of Dawn for the players. It's basically a trial island. It's something that current players can use .. to make alts.. but really doesn't reward old players. They do plan on giving everyone a camel mount. (Yaya.. more mounts *sarcasm* lol.)

Yeah, crafting in Vanguard can be a bit painful. Hehe, but some people find it really fun.

The jiggly jaggle giggly waggly gamblin gobbie seemed really fun when Karen talked about it on SUWT. I don't like gambling at all, so not sure if that would ever be something I'd do. Sounds fun though. I just cant handle losing money, or items. lol

Shawn really knew quite a bit. Nice guest. =) That girl you went to prom with seems mean. You poor thang. =P

'Free Expansions' by Brad

Hey Troy/Karen,

My wife and I recently started back playing EQ2 a few weeks ago, and we were in the same boat as you with not having the RoK expansion. We had some free time on our accounts from having bought Vanguard and the 5 game SOE pack for Station Pass, even though we cancelled a bit back. In any case I put in a petition that explained that I was a Station Pass subscriber and mostly played SWG, but wanted to try RoK with the Living Legacy promotion, but knew we both fell outside the time frame of the promotion. In a few hours, they flagged our accounts with the expansion. We didn't get any of the free time/items/titles, but I have been quite happy having the expansion and playing my new Sarnak Mystic (L54 now) hanging out his new home in South Qeynos.

The easiest run of quests from going from Evil to Good, is to betray and head to Kelethan (Faerie Town). One of the repeatable quests is to go kill 3 orcs, which are just around the corner from the town. Keep repeating that one quest and you can be a citizen in just about an hour.

'I tried the Free expansion gambit, and got a rock' by Shalimar616

I tried to get RoK for free, using the gambit purposed by Brad but I ended up with a rock. There is still some slight chance I could get it for free, but I am not holding my breath.

The reason, supposedly, is that later this summer we veterans will be awarded with some kind of super secret surprise -- I think it will be a big goose egg, but I have been wrong in the past.

Wiser needs to see the Ruins of Kunark!
