As a long-time EQ gamer, I've been waiting a long time for someone to do a podcast like this! EQ has such a rich, diverse world that some of the new players seem to disregard it as a bit too overhelming. A podcast like this is the perfect answer to that! And who better than Troy...someone who is completely passionate about every game he plays! I'll be listening to this one for sure!

The EQ2 n00b zones are infested with level locked twinks that you would probably have trouble killing with a full group of players in treasured gear. Around level 30 they are pretty easy to avoid but it will probably be a little frustrating at first. I didn't catch what server you were on but if you didn't pick Nagafen you should reroll now! Give a hollar if you need any help, my main toon is Sifo on Nagafen.

Finally, a newbie oriented podcast for EQ/EQ2. My wife and I just started playing EQ2 about two weeks ago, so its nice to see a podcast covering it from our perspective a bit. It actually even got me interested in possibly giving the original EQ a shot. There's so much depth to EQ2, thats one reason I spend most of my time there rather than on Azeroth. I think another blogger put it that WOW is like a good friend, and EQ2 is the hot foreign girl/guy you are dating.
Keep up the good work!

'Corrections for this show!?!' by Eric
Submitted on 2007-08-24 11:56:25 CST
I was a little unprepared for this show so wanted to post some corrections:
The current expansion is The Buried Sea not Buring Sea which was on my mind because SOE is producing this new game.
You summon your corpse through a corpse summoner not a soul binder that was a slip of the tounge.
The amulet for the summons is 316 plat with no gear on. Its cheaper dependant on your charisma stats.
Halfling city is Rivervale not Rivendale or Rivendell must had LoTR on the mind.
Misty Thicket is the adjacent zone not Misty Knight, Misty Knight is the name of my old guild and was a slip of the tounge (SOTT).
Thanks for the post and I think next week show is more of what to expect from this show.
Looking forward to doing many more shows.

Another stellar job, Troy. I enjoy "Voyages of Vanguard" even though I'm not a fan of the game itself just because of your sheer enthusiasm and love of the game (I may even go back after GU #3 or #4) but "Equal Perspectives" is right up my alley. I love the varying viewpoints of all the contributors as well as the trips back to the early days of 3D MMORPGs. Were we ever so young?

As usual, good job on the podcast, I enjoyed it.
btw, I used to play eq2, I'm pretty sure you can go into options and toggle the "auto decline duels" and "auto decline group invites" , so guys like the ones bothering you arent as much an issue. :)

You guys had me confused there at first as to why you were getting griefed just starting out on a new server. Then I realized that you actually began his intro to MMO's on a PVP Server.
Do you think this is a good idea? I guess I can see advantages and disadvantages to it, but I would imagine he might have a better introduction to the world and play style without having to constantly watch his back.
I'm currently playing my first EQ2 character as well and its nice to hear from another new player. Keep up the good work.
Troy, you are a podcast juggernaut!
'PVP Servers' by Eric

I believe they are on Kithicor server and only Vox, Venekor, and Nagafen are listed as PVP. I'm on Kithicor also, I was like "Omg did I start on the wrong server way back when they released?".
