Welcome to the latest member of the MMO Podcast Collective!
Before anyone asks (that means you Wilhelm): Yes it WILL be in iTunes, but Apple takes their time with that, so hang tight on that front.
Give Jonathan and Rob a warm welcome.
'Looking forward to this' by Akely

Really looking forward to this. Have not been playing MMO(RPG)'s very long myself I am interested in the evolution of it. Although I know the basic history I will probably follow this show with ears wide open.
QUESTION: Can we all send questions/requests to you which you (might) answer in the podcast?

After being in the same Guild playing MMO's for the past 10 years I can certainly understand where you guys are playing from. I wouldn't mind hearing a few discussions on MUSH/MUX gaming, along with a refresh of Ultima Online because frankly I think it's been so long most folks don't even remember the type of MMO gaming elements we've sacrificed along the way with the MMO's tailored for a mass market appeal.
As soon as you do get iTunes up, please drop a line in here so I can get the e-mail update.

I remember having to clear off everything on my PC to load on the original UO, which was 600Mb approximately - 60% of my entire hard drive space, so they certainly took a risk at launch on the product.
I don't remember it being a very fulfilling experience and nor was EQ after it and it was not until Anarchy On-line that MMO started to be interesting (and DAOC), so I hope you cover these great groundbreaking games, rather than focus on EQ, which took a few years to become interesting.
'BBS's & Muds' by Brad

Your episode brought back some memories. Sitting in front of my TRS-80 Color Computer playing Infocom games, dialing up BBS's, even running my own for a few years, eventually transitioning into MUDs and running my own. Might want to check out the BBS Documentary Project, its a great walk down memory lane for those who were involved in it (www.bbsdocumentary.com). I have a copy of it, and they cover things like PKARC/SEA ARC, WWIV, Fidonet, and the BBS communities. I myself used to run WWIV back in the late 80's/early 90's.
In any case, great show and I look forward to hearing more from you. You should have the newer gamers go try and log into some of the few BBS's out there, play something like Zork, Enchanter, or even Legend of the Red Dragon or TradeWars.

Ah, I do miss those BBS days :) Though Rob and I have a roadmap of how we figured we could have the episodes flow, we are very much interested in having a great deal of it be listener-driven. After all, we want to hear your stories as much as we hope you'll love hearing ours. We're working out the details, and in episode 1 (which we are hard at work on as we speak) we are going to give more info on how we can have the listeners call in and tell their MMO stories too!
And although we mentioned UO, EQ, or Meridian59 specifically...we're in no ways limiting ourselves to just those games. We chose EQ as our first episode mainly because it was the one Rob was most curious about, but we've already got some ideas in the works with our shows about Dark Age of Camelot and Anarchy Online. :) We're really excited and hope you like what we have planned. More info in episode 1!

Sounds like a really interesting show. I actually beta tested UO and EQ back in the days... UO was something totally new to me. What a great time.

I have been a player of role-playing games since 1978, although back then computers were dishing out some mean Oregon Trail, It wasn't until 1999 that I braved the online world of role-playing.
My first few experience, which I hope to tell everyone about, was wildly fun and exciting.
I hope that the Big J and myself can sit down and bang out some stories.
Keep up the good work guys!

Hi guys! My name is Matt and I am very excited about your podcast! Loved the first episode. I do a podcast about retro computing/gaming and have discussed online gaming in some of my shows.
