I didn't get into the D&D computer games until around Baldur's Gate II, but it was fun learning about the history of the gold box games. Thanks for the great show!

Great episode guys! That one really brought me back..Pool was the first computer game I played and it conquered the NES in the name of computers forever for my time..I fondly remember managing the 9 or so disks needed to run it on my apple IIc. I would name my first char Joseph cause that my name and the rest were versions of edric (sedric, dedric, hedric etc) named after one of my elementary school buddies. Played combat medic alot with that kid hehe. Anyhoo somehow I learned to edit the saved games and gave myself swords +365..kinda killed the game for me though...are you gunna give a little time to the books based on the games..Pool and Curse are two of the best novels to ever come out of that forgotten realms series.

Oh man did this episode bring back memories. Way too many to really mention but I do remember watching my buddy Jason play Azure Bonds on his Apple IIGS (fancy-schmacy- I know!). We started playing intensly about mid after noon. Evening came and went. Than at some point I looked up from the computer screen and exclamed: "Good lord! What is that god-awful light!" Yeah, it was the sun shining into his den window. We had played far into the morning the NEXT day and not even noticed. This is how insanely drawn in those of us that were lucky enough to play the SSI games would become. Thanks for providing such a incredible ride back to those days Jon and by the way, feel free to invite Isanox back anytime to talk about his gaming experiences from those days. He has one of the most robust catalogues of memories about gaming I've even encountered. And the stories are entertaining as well. Game on, brother!

Fantastic show and you guys brought back some killer memories. I used to RP a lot and when some of my gaming group moved away, the Gold Box games are what filled that space. I had totally forgotten about some of those. When Buck Rogers was mentioned a ton of good reflections came back. Thanks for the trip down "memory lane"

Take care,

I actually picked it up at Wal-Mart, don't know if they still have it on shelf. This seems to be the whole Forgotten Realms segment of the Gold Box games.
