Oh My God Real Life Podcast #16Fri, 6 Jun 2008 05:24:00 GMT [download/play]
On this special episode of OMGRL, Jenna and I are joined by Luper from the Voyages of Vanguard podcast. The five emails of this episode include:
- The creator of the Defenders of Ascalon podcast wants to know how to deal with crappy recordings
- Cyborg wants a real physical relationship with his online gf, is it possible?
- Strategist is worried about becoming a negative influence on his
young cousins, but killing cops and raping women in GTA isn't so bad,
is it?
- Ommi needs some advice on his career choice. Should he stick it out
and learn a trade, or give it all up to stay home and not take showers
ever again (like Shawn)?
- Spart writes back to ask us about his ADHD, and we all have our own special thoughts on the matter.
I want to thank Luper for coming on the show! If you have any advice you'd like to receive, shoot an email on over to show at omg-rl dot com.
'HEAR HEAR!' by Sinaea Submitted on 2008-06-07 00:16:08 CST I don't normally comment on shows, but I had to write and say: Kudos, Shawn, for standing up against the over-medication of children. Your children are lucky to have you as their father.
P.S. - Omg, someone feed Luper!
'Ending theme' by szteto Submitted on 2008-06-07 19:50:50 CST quick question but what song is at the end because, and yes I know it's ironic, and I don't know why but I am hearing sinaea when I hear that song
'That song is...' by Shawn Submitted on 2008-06-07 22:09:25 CST Anywhere But Here by Behavior. They're on Garageband.com. I absolutely love that song. It's the transition music between emails in every episode, also.
'Windows on a Mac' by mistokibbles Submitted on 2008-06-08 13:30:41 CST Actually, I run Windows XP through Bootcamp and it runs as quickly as any other decent computer. I can play Guild Wars with the highest visual quality on a 20' monitor at 60 fps. You can also run windows applications inside Mac OS X using Parallels or VMWare
'Comments' by Jenna Submitted on 2008-06-10 19:22:38 CST I love reading comments. Even when I don't agree with the person at all, like Sinea, I love to read them. Keep 'em coming!
'Bootcamp' by Sinaea Submitted on 2008-06-10 22:42:29 CST You might ask Peter from TAG about Bootcamp. I know he runs PC games on his Mac.
'Jenna In a Mental Institution? Sounds fine to me.' by Akely Submitted on 2008-06-11 04:19:02 CST As usual I'll offer my not asked for, not thought through, partial and insane opinions:
Cyborg:
I can't see how you are having a "relationship" with someone you've never met in real life. But maybe I'm just to old. That said I gotta disagree with Luper. It is possible to have a long distance relation. Me and the Mrs had it for first two years, then a couple of other times for a month or two. This was all my fault for being in the armed forces. But anyway: the key for making it work is Love, Trust and Dedication. Mind you, this was BEFORE Teh Inarweb Tubes and all the easy access that means. It can be done, but perhaps not by everyone. But hey, whats the price of trying?
Strategist:
Stay true to YOUR ideals. They define you (and frankly are good ones, yay you). It all comes down to two things:
1 Which kind of person do you want to be - part of the problem or part of the solution?
2 If no-one draws the line for your cousins... If you don't WHO? If not now - WHEN?
Regarding the computer problems I think a operating system re-install should be the first thing you try. If you want advice I sincerely advice you go to the GAX Online Hardware Xone and start a thread where you ask advice. I promise to help out and I'm pretty good at hardware. Link: http://www.gaxonline.com/group/hardwarezone
Ommi:
Get outside and DO STUFF. Holy crap you live in one of the most amazing countries in the world! Go see it!
Spark:
Creative outlet is a good idea. Try boxing, judo or something similar. It's good exercise and a great way to get rid of stress. Thats because the body produced endorphine which is a strong morphine-like drug. And it is sweet!
And yes Jenna, the world IS laughing at your ignorance. Thats the t-shirt: Front = "The world is laughing at my ignorance." Back = "at least I brought the funny back! :)"
