Oh My God Real Life Podcast #11
Sun, 9 Mar 2008 12:25:00 GMT [download/play]

In this 11th episode of Oh My God Real Life, Jenna and I talk about our love lives and read over 5 emails:

- Bob is looking to make a move on his long-distance relationship. What should he do?
- Grious writes us a novel asking advice on 3 problems, but Jenna reads the email in record time!
- Austin just wants us to read his email on the show. Will we do it?!1
- Sara lets us know about her MUSHy experiences with online sleezebags, and what she did about it.
- Janus wants to know how we can focus on our varying projects, and if we have any advice on the secret of our...um... something. I forget.

We tried something a little different this time and recorded 2 shows in the same night, since our biggest problems are syncing our schedules. So you can look for the second show of this night (episode 12) to be released in about a week or so. Hooray for a schedule!

The theme song for OMGRL is "Real Life Drama" by Rackjaw.

"I prefer the drug addict over you.":
I think this statement says more about her than about you, Jenna!

Age difference:
Speaking from personal experience I must say "screw you" to anyone having an opinion. As long as no laws are broken I think anything is fine. Sure, the difference can be creepy. But opinions are like assholes, one should not delve to deeply...

IIRC:
If I Remember Correctly... Really... You guys need a Viking to know this? You suck! :-D
(MY GODS!; Jenny must have the biggest lungs in the world!)

Spelling:
At times it can be annoying when people don't spel cörrectly. Abbreviations can suck. I can't say I spell that good, having English as my third language, but then I *like it* when people correct me (without being mean about it).

(Perception of) Time:
I felt you took to little time at each subject this show... But looking at the time its almost 50 minutes long. That means time flies when you two talk! Bravo!

Thanks for the advice. I will get that book soon...for now I'm using my money for WoW *waits for the anti-WoW comment* and Super Smash Bros. Brawl but I will keep an eye out for when I next go to the bookstore.

Thanks again and by the way I am a guy.

Hey Shawn and Jenna! Good job once again you two! :)

Only one thing to say really:
The age difference thing. I agree with Akely, as long as there are no laws being broken, you can give a big "screw you" to anyone giving you trouble about it.
My personal opinion? Love is not stopped by any boundaries, age, distance or whatever you can think of.

OHH! And kudos to Jenna for reading that mail in record time :)

And Janus, DON'T DO IT!!!1!11shift!!

As always, great show. Thanks guys.

King's 'On Writing' is a great book to inspire authors. Another one to check out is 'Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life' by Anne Lamott. The title comes from a story: her brother was overwhelmed as a child by a school project. He had to categorize / memorize dozens of different birds. He'd start, stop. Get sidetracked. There were too many birds to work on - it was hard to know where to start. So he got nowhere.

Until his dad said 'just take them bird by bird.'

Simple advice, but the book is eloquent and a must read for aspiring authors.

Thanks again for the podcast.
