'Auto Assault, things do not look good' by Psyik Submitted on 2007-07-10 10:26:02 CST I've got the client downloaded to 56%, the Limited Edition on expedited shipping from GoGamer, and my Rumblepad 2 in hand.
I've always wanted to give the game a try, and it looks like it's now or never. I guess it's people like me who are to blame for this...
'arcade, not RP' by hallower Submitted on 2007-07-10 17:59:30 CST I didn't like hearing about the out-of-ship viewpoint in Star Trek Online either, but that choice seems to fit with MMOs in general these days. There seems to be a movement away from RPGs and toward more arcade-style games.
I'm looking forward to playing Mythos. Perhaps they'll release it soon enough to hold me over until Hellgate.
I remember when many of this year's interesting games were scheduled for Q1 or early summer (like Mass Effect and Alan Wake). Release dates in this industry are sand drawings. I wouldn't even glance at them if I wasn't desperate for another lasting game.
'Small Request' by Galaji Submitted on 2007-07-13 16:36:54 CST Hey Brent, I've been listening to your show for about a year now and something has bugged me a few times. Would it be at all possible to put the songs/music you use each episode into the show notes?
I can recognize some of them, but others sound good yet I have no clue what they are. Thanks for all the effort you put in each week, it doesn't go unnoticed.

'Spot on!' by scytale2 Submitted on 2007-07-18 08:08:41 CST The idea of having a varying avatar is absolutely spot on, but I think you are being a but generous to LOTRO, who are more interested in squeezing easy to write gameplay out, rather than breakinjg new ground in the genre, as you suggest. My personal view is that this comment is the single most important suggestion that has been made in 76 podcasts - let's hope the game designers pcik up on it.
The second really important comment made was on STO. It is reallly frustrating to think a licence will be wasted by missing out the most key element of the game - The Bridge. This is the bit that features most in every episode of Star Trek and the bit that most people are enthused about. There have been countless solo games about Star Trek - most pretty ordinary - which have dealt with outside ship combat. Doing this again on-line is seems pointless and against the spirit of the grouping/social element, which is so key in MMOs. Some of us actually don't enjoy the "sharpshooting" nature of on-line games and the opportunity to be "Science Officer" or be in engineering, while the FPS-enthused people can take weapons/security jobs. I hope this is reversed.
