Podcast 75 is unofficially Netdevil-Week, or so it seems. We have all kinds of Netdevil news, both positive and negative. In the positive column Lego Universe is full speed ahead and Jumpgate is getting a complete refresh. In the negative column we must bid farewell to Auto Assault. Other news includes Anarchy Online's new business model and the publishing deal for Pirates of the Burning Sea. The profile of the week features Jack Emmert of Cryptic Studios. The big question is: what is Brent playing this week? Find out in podcast 75.
'Good show =)' by Cuppycake Submitted on 2007-07-05 11:31:06 CST Enjoyed it Brent! You've got me wanting to try out Ryzom you meanieface.
'If I had a dollar...' by Brent Submitted on 2007-07-05 11:36:22 CST ...for every person that has tried Ryzom because of VW, I'd be able to buy a plane ticket to France to visit the studios. :)
'Nice...' by darrenl Submitted on 2007-07-05 12:00:42 CST ...nice subtle hint there bud.
I really liked the summary of the SOE/FL deal. Facts only...k...gr8...thx.
'Ryzom: Tried it...' by Wilhelm2451 Submitted on 2007-07-05 14:59:46 CST ...but it wouldn't run on my system for more than five minutes at a stretch. We all know how much you can get done in an MMO in five minutes.
'Oh and...' by Wilhelm2451 Submitted on 2007-07-05 15:00:55 CST You need forums. You're too big now to be without them.
'Baffled' by Brent Submitted on 2007-07-05 15:08:27 CST I've heard this from a few people now, and I'm baffled because I've not had any issues. Even the launcher that I complained about back on show 30 seems to be completely revamped and flawless. Am I just lucky, or do I need to point the 'user error' finger in your direction, Wil?
Forums. Define big and I'll let you know if VW qualifies. :)
'Never discount...' by Wilhelm2451 Submitted on 2007-07-05 18:54:43 CST You should never discount user error when I am involved. I've made a career out of breaking things.
Actually, everything, including the stuff you complained about, worked fine for me. However, after five mins in game, it would lock up. This was a while back though... November if I recall right.
As for big, I think being the publishing point for more than, say, three podcasts would be about the right mark.
'Forums' by fl1pper Submitted on 2007-07-05 19:52:00 CST As I've said before, I too think you need some forums. As you pointed out, this is the only place to get podcasts for several games and the traffic in the comments section is only going to get bigger.
'forums? i dunno...' by hallower Submitted on 2007-07-05 22:01:11 CST Forums might eventually become the smart thing to do, but you'd probably find at some point that you need a moderator and you don't want that person to be you, haha. Put forums off as long as you can, I say.
The LEGO MMO could be awesome, but the general idea might be a lot cooler than the actual game. I wouldn't be surprised if they put a lot of limitations on what players can build.
'Great show, once again!' by Beauturkey Submitted on 2007-07-05 22:30:16 CST ...but honestly I loved the outdoors episode. Birds tweeting in the background makes it so nice.
Thanks for all your support!
