'5-Year Olds' by mdubuc Submitted on 2006-07-17 10:28:26 CST Great Podcast!!!
You mentioned that DAoC turned five and that Ultima Online and Everquest were the only other two who reached this mark.
Two others that are 5-years or older and are still going come to mind:
Asheron's Call released Oct 31, 1999
Anarchy Online released Jun 26, 2001
Keep up the great work the podcast has turned into "Must Hear PC" for me ;D
'You are so right.' by Brent Submitted on 2006-07-19 00:37:23 CST I forgot Meridian 59 too. Thanks for the hard data. I'm going to try to file a proper correction next week...

Auto Assault is dead. One server won’t keep the developing team on the payroll.
It’s hard to get 20 people in a raid I wonder how long does it take to get 216 people? One day or one week? Their raid system will fail if they have raid contents that need 216 people to complete. No one wants to stand around for hours just to set up a team. I rather spend my time playing then waiting for team members to join.
The Crusade team is hoping that WoW will be dead by then so they would have a chance for success. What they don’t know is that Diablo III MMOG will come out two years from now.
It is very stupid to hide information from player. MMOGs that are made for hardcore player will never reach a desirable subscription level. No mini maps in Darkfall just add up the frustration for causal players.
MMOG companies should be worry about banning people. There is a legal battle with Second Life where a person has sued them for taking away his virtual property. If the guy is successful in his lawsuit claming that virtual property should be under the same law as real property then it will open a floodgate of lawsuits. Win or lose in that lawsuit don’t be surprise to see class action legation against MMO companies that banned people.
In the future the secondary market (selling items and characters) will be greater then the primary market (subscriptions and selling the game). The secondary market will become a multi billion-dollar business and where there is money to be made or lose, legation will follow.
One of the thing that destroy most PvP MMOG is the absolute obsession of trying to balance out PvP. There will be a point were people just quit in disgust because of over balance. In the case of WoW, battleground is group PvP. It is design to fight in groups and not one on one. Your suggestion about trying to estimate the gear will not work. All it will do is make people wait longer to enter battleground. The range of PvP in battleground is acceptable because the overall group of each team will balance it out.
I wonder how much hate mail you got with your Star Wars Galaxy comments.
Guild drama, you can’t lose. It will be a hit in your show! Look forward to it.
