'Thanks for the news and queue's and ramblings' by FarSpace Submitted on 2009-02-17 05:42:32 CST Thanks for all the news, really, it is done well and helpful.
I get to thinking about EVE getting a Que. That's something that should of been and I can't believe how many times I had to log on when I did not even want to play to change skills, but maybe that was ok for some people because it was like another life and they would chat with others that way anyways.
If I was playing now I know I would have allot more friends I would talk to.
I can imagine though how many people can play now that could not before, like me except I still need to play missions that are NOT generic. Something like they let you figure out what to do to succeed in the mission with in the dialog like in LotRO.
I bet some one was like what the heck folks at CCP? Some one that they respected. The queue gets me half way back at least.
I think we need to go back to the old ways of not putting everything on credit, I don't use credit for anything and not in debt and I feel wonderful like I was walking through an aftermath of an apocalypse and no more owing money because all the infrastructure to be able to be in debt are gone :)
'What about pay per hour?' by Yoh Submitted on 2009-02-19 01:10:36 CST While listening to your discussion about the possible subscription models, in which I find a tad awkward, how about a pay per hour model?
Such as, like time cards, you pay some $15 for a 150 hour time card, which you run down like a clock. And, also having the option of a subscription like option, in which you just get billed at the end of the month for the time you use.
For 10c an hour (of 150 hours of game time), thats a lot of mileage you'll get out of it.
While the hardest of the hardcore can easily go over this and end up paying more on average, the casual would likely spend quite a bit less. In addition to only spending what you use, and being able to manage your time and money, you can also choose to leave it at any time for any given amount of time and come back to it 6 months down the line a be no worse for it.
This would be the way I would choose to go about it, as it has the flexibility of the Guild Wars system, with the dependable revenue stream that a subscription based model offers.
As for the stigma, people just have to get over it, and look at it for what it is, not for what it used to be.
Anyways, thats my take on it.
'@ Yoh and Brent' by FarSpace Submitted on 2009-02-19 06:13:39 CST I must admit, I'm an mmo hopper too, and if I was offered a choice of pay when I play and pay less for my self but at least all the mmo's I'm canceled on would at least have a chance of getting something from me, tather then nothing.
CoH is getting nothing from me and I am not going to play more then 1 month very 2 years at this point with all the othe great mmo's out and comming out, but I would be going into CoH more then 15 times every 2 years if I paid when I played so CoH would getmore from me at this point.
I loveLotRO now but what happens when SWTOR cvomes out? LotRO is likely then getting nothing, BUT I would play LotRO still and be giving Turbine some money every once is a while o play in a VW LotRO event or what ever.
P.S. Yes GW does have some digital downloads you can buy at the log in screen there's a store button.
'I guess massively is the number one source for news this week' by shuttler Submitted on 2009-02-19 15:22:59 CST ;)
I like massively a lot, don't get me wrong.
Just an observation.
The Fusionfall on the iphone sounds great to me, I'm not sure on the practicality but in principle it sounds great.
I love the accessibility of that game and wish we had more browser based choices. Opening it up to mobile platforms is a great move.

I wonder what other mmo's could run on an iphone?
