| I know this is an old clip, but I just watched it this morning and I was left in awe at the obtuse statements made by the reporters at Fox News (which by this time should come as no surprise). This type of insane ignorance and misleading propaganda is why I never watch the news. |

Sure this is annoying. It's even a little silly, but take solace that in 5 years you'll never hear this issue talked about. In five years most parents will understand that video games are not just for children. The reason being that parents will have grown up with video games. Who knows there may even be another boogeyman of society at that point.
There of course is one other reason that this doesn't matter. Video games are something around a 90 billion dollar industry, they're as big or bigger than movies. Governments are just not willing to shut that tax revenue off.
At the risk of sounding political I generally find CNN to be worse than Fox for their portrayal of the news and issues. But that's my opinion and I am entitled to it just as everyone else is to theirs

They're all equally bad, I just happen to be a fan of Bill O'Reilly. My faith in news media in general has been shattered.

They had about 6 people in that clip who had no idea what the @#$% they were talking about. The pop psychologist they brought in is apparently as poor an analyst as she is a writer, and the bimbo who demanded an Adults Only rating for the game obviously had no knowledge of either the game's content or the rating system's criteria. The only redeeming part of the feature, in my opinion, was the final word – "It's up to the parents [as opposed to the government] to regulate what their kids are exposed to." At least that stuck to a true conservative message instead of the moral justification for invasive laws touted by people like Mike Amend-the-Constitution-to-Fit-the-Bible Huckabee.

I also watched this video when a friend e-mailed it to me. They just generally messed up the whole thing. My favorite part is that the host said, "I did all sorts of research on the game...", but when asked if she actually played the game, she hadn't. Good research, huh?
My other favorite part is that one of the idiots on the "Highly Qualified and Certified Panel of Professionals" (None of which, other than the video game journalist, actually played the game) sat there and ripped into the video game journalist about video games. She was completely and utterly wrong of course. When some nasty gamers got wind of her words, they went onto Amazon.com where she has a book for sale. The gamers then went and completely bombed her book ratings, which was reset 5 times in a matter of 24 hours, and wrote nasty things about her. Later, she publicly released a "Sorry I am an Idiot" statement saying she had 1) not actually played the game 2) Had not even seen the controversial interview and 3) Was sorry she had bashed a great game like that. She even left a note asking people to stop leaving bad ratings on her book (which the cheap $!%^ included a link to) and to please forgive her.
She didn't get any forgiveness from me.
