Rapid Reality, developer of The Chronicle, has dumped the Kaneva Engine and is in the process of porting everything to the Aura Game Engine. They expect a three month port cycle, which will delay the beta that was nearly upon us at the time of this decision. The Chronicle's beta is now targeted at January or early February, with an estimated launch date of March 1. As a result of the delays, the organization has offered to refund any pre-orders. This is kind, but I think anyone who pre-orders a first-product (especially an MMORPG) from a new company has some pretty substantial wedding tackle, so, I doubt those who pre-ordered will take Rapid Reality up on this offer. They can wait a couple more months.
I'll be keeping an eye on this virgin world as it progresses for a couple reasons:
1. They're going through some big changes and have made some considerable claims.
2. I have a sneaky suspicion that Rapid Reality is... ah, I'll let you decide for yourself.
